Time between surgery & appointment to review

I had breast cancer surgery a day less than two weeks ago. My surgeons office called today with an appointment. I’ve been waiting for this & hoping it would be soon. Turns out it’s scheduled another 20 days from now. That will be almost 5 weeks from surgery. Although I want to panic I’m trying to tell myself that it will be okay. Anyone else have this length of time to wait until hearing the results of surgery?

Hi. I had surgery yesterday. The doctor said I will get a follow up appointment in about three weeks. When I had the initial scan they told me the results would take 8 weeks but I had an appointment within 3 weeks. So I am thinking that if they have any major concerns about you they will get you back sooner. Wishing you a speedy recovery.

I had to wait ten days between surgery and first review. If you live in the UK you will have had a specialist breast cancer nurse allocated to you. Ring her.

I spoke with my nurse today & she says although my Dr appt is later that I can call my GP Dr & ask that when she receives the results that she share them with me. My nurse says that Cancercare has my file & will be triaging & giving to an oncologist & other specialists (radiation & chemo). She said that this process is independent of me seeing my surgeon. Glad I called. Don’t hesitate to call with questions. I do find that being my own advocate helps me. All the best 👍

Hi yes I met with my surgeon who was able to tell me my Her 2 test was negative. Then met with oncologist who specializes in chemo too & he tells me that my sample was sent for genetic test to see the likelihood of reoccurrence. If over a level then 3 months chemo yet. If not then straight to radiation. I get these results tomorrow. I’m waiting & not sleeping well. Wish me luck!

I got my results of the genetic test done to see how likely I was to develop a new lump. I scored high. Now I will have approximately 3 months of chemo. I sure hope that works to rid my body if any lumps! Anyone else have this?
