I’m 24 years old and have always had issues with my left breast. It’s always been slightly bigger than the other one. About a month and a half a go, I went to my Gp after finding a lumpy bit of tissue behind my left nipple. He said he wouldn’t worry but refferred me to the breast clinic just to be on the safe side. I went and told them I was also having a lot of pain in that breast. I explained my right one was fine. I told them I waited til after my period to see if it was hormonal but nothing changed. They did an ultrasound of behind the nipple and said it was nothing to worry about, just a bit of excess tissue. The pain went for a while but now it’s back. The Gp gave me antibiotics incase of infection and told me that the breast clinic know what they’re doing and some women can experience this in one breast more than the other. The pain is still here. It’s not terrible, just uncomfortable. I have been wearing tight sport bras and put it down to that but wondered why it only affected one breast.
I have googled and its telling me I’ve got breast cancer and reading other people’s forums makes me so scared. I don’t know what to do. Please help. I also have really bad anxiety, never suffered with health anxiety until now. I smoke and I’m convinced I’m going to die. It’s the worst feeling in the world.

The worst thing you can do is refer to google with any symptoms. You would have yourself dead and buried in nano seconds. If you are worried, go back to your GP and ask for a second opinion. As the scan has come back clear it is unlikely that he will re-refer you. If that is the case you may have to pay for a scan privately. It may be costly, but in all honesty the peace of mind is worth the price. In the meantime, please stay away from "Dr. Google".
Dear SLV94. I would definitely suggest you going back to your GP if there is something persistent there that is disturbing you. I had a similar experience in the sense that they couldn't see anything in Mammograms and Ultrasound scan and they told me all looks fine nothing suspicious from scan. But after having surgical biopsy it came back as invasive ductal carcinoma. So what I know is sometimes scans can be misleading not to worry you but that was my experience. So for the future I will be having MRI scans on top of Ultrasound and Mammograms only because Ultrasound and Mammograms sometimes cannot be good enough to show early stages of breast cancer. Definitely try to get an MRI scan if you can for peace of mind.
Hi ,you are worried I get that.Dont let anyone put you off go back to your GP and ask for more tests explain you are very concerned. You are very young and I don't want to scare you but Cancer does not make allowances for youth. It may be something else entirely but you need to get Cancer ruled out for your own peace of mind. Please go back and insist ,I hope all will be well sending all my love xx
Anxiety makes everything worse but you are worried and I understand that but keep harassing them and if necessary offer to pay for more tests if you are that upset make them listen .good luck xx
Hi there. It’s your body and your peace of mind. No one else’s. Do what ever you need to understand the pain you are experiencing ie if it’s not cancer what is it. Have you had a biopsy? That was what confirmed my cancer. Can you pay for a private biopsy? Perhaps you could look up and find your nearest private clinic and contact them even if only a quote.
Have you tried warm compresses? What about changing your coffee brand? Have they checked you for any Endocrine Disorder? What about Nutrient Deficiencies (Iodine, Iron, Potassium, Selenium, Magnesium, Vitamin A, B & D) ??
