Chemo now finished

Survived the chemo! Can't believe chemo is now over - it seems to go on forever. Surgery next, but chemo seems to have done its job and surgery is not looking too bad. Just a note to those just starting or in the middle of chemo - there is an end to it all, you will come out the other side. Caroline xx

Well done you, are you doing something to celebrate, or waiting until after the surgery x

Thanks jennymary - not doing anything special, beginning to feel almost human again is quite something. I have radiotherapy after surgery - planning a week in a cottage in devon with my sister and mum when I come out the other side. xx

Well done you ! That's what I organised with my family while nearing the end of my chemo . I booked a lovely cottage next to a lake and we all managed to chill out for a couple of days . Unfortunately my hair decided to fall out while there also, but I had planned for that and had brought my wig along , just in case .

Hi Caroline, well done, I bet you are glad you have finished! I had my 5th session today, one more to go. I know what you mean, when I started mine it was march and July seemed forever away but really it has gone quite quickly. Hope your surgery goes well. Take care. X

Yes, just taking it day by day at the moment and not planning too much. Feel ok so far just waiting for the fuzzy headed mess to kick in! I'm having 6 cycles of fec, what did u have? And what surgery are you having? Xx

Dear Lynne

i was on standard FEC-T chemo ie 3 cycles of FEC and 3 of T. It seems to have worked as the lump is now hard to find. I am having wire guided! lumpectomy with sentinel node removal in my right breast on 27/6. Then radiotherapy. I think I am very lucky - the tumour was stage 1 which is good but grade 3 which is bad. I have it in my head that whilst grade 3 is aggressive, which we don't like, that's why it seems to have responded so well to the chemo. I hope cycle 5 goes well - do look after yourself and rest when you can - the effects are cumulative and your body needs all the help it can get during these last few weeks of chemo - the finishing post is in sight. Best wishes and all the luck in the world. Caroline xx
