Hi when I went for mine it was just the normal weight. BP. P sample. and a few questions.

good luck. mine was for breast cancer so I don't know if it varies for other ops.?

Hope you're doing OK?

At the Unit I went to, l saw a Nurse who took my General History, did Blood Pressure, tested a Urine Sample, then l saw the Pharmacist to discuss my existing Medication & any changes, had an ECG, saw the Physiotherapist who explained all about the excersises post op & gave me a booklet to follow

Think that was it, but someone who's been more recently might reply & have a better recall than me 18months later.

Hi I had mine in October - I saw the nurse had blood pressure, urine and swabs for mrsa, went through my medical history and previous ops. Then bloods and ecg. All pretty straight forward.

Hi .. It's the normal ... Weight , blood pressure , blood tests , and questions about how you feel , your medication ... And I asked all the questions I wanted answering .. I had it all written Down, because sometimes when in a stressful situation it's easy to forget .... Good luck xxx

Yes ... Anything that came int my head.. How long did they think I would be in theatre , what happens after ... What about pain relief .. I had a double mastectomy . And total removal left side and 7 nodes from the right .. But obviously they didn't know that till they operated ... Just ask away !! XXXX

Hi Gitte my pre op assessment was Dec 1st. As with Mandy Wilson it was blood test, blood pressure, height and weight, mrsa swabs. No ecg for me nor physiotherapist but all the medical stuff was followed by about an hour with a breast care nurse who talked about the common side effects following the operation incl lympheodema, cording, seromas, infection etc all of which was in the hand out I came away with. I also was given a heart shaped cushion to sleep with (goes between arm and side of body) and a little bag for the post surgery drain.

One of the painless hospital appointments 👍🏻🙂. Good luck.

Wow .. We Came away with nothing .. I think they get cotton bags now ... Xx mine was 7 years ago , so luckily things change x

Yes I think I was a bit lucky - I got the impression that the drain bags are possibly created for free by somebody who can work a sewing machine maybe? Or a school needlework project? I'm taking mine back at my next appointment after a wash and an iron.

I also fleetingly saw an online newspaper article about a lady campaigning for the cushions to be given for free to breast cancer patients - can't remember the date of it but obviously it was in recent years.....they are £7.50 online now. Along with the 'comfie' at £11.50 and around £70.00 financial assistance towards the wig and then around the same I think towards a prosthesis and it adds up.......🙂🙂🙂.

I was given the cushion, comfie and the bag for free. Maybe it depends what hospital you are under?

Excellent! Yes I guess so. When it comes to a wig (if you need / choose it) it is likely to be the oncology department that points you to your wig provider. I have yet to get my prosthesis via breast care nurses so don't know where they come from.

My pre op was over 3 yrs ago so unable to remember what was involved, but wishing you loads of luck for tomorrow and the subsequent op x

As above it covers everything. I had a form delivered by postmen minuites before leaving...it got me in a panic...me thinking I must fill this in now and phone surgery for details asked. Hubby saying its time to leave and form half done. Arrived at appointment...had to finish form best way I could. Later had phonecall from hospital diabetic nurse increasing my meds without giving me a more. Lucky I had enough to do that but only just. This is a straight forward appointment nothing to worry about. Others had form given while waiting to see nurses so I need not have had a panic.

Nearly there, good luck on the surgery. It was a long day for me but out same day...not always the case for others.

Surgeon put me first so I could take diabetic meds when I woke, ate, and drunk. Others were off home before me but each operation is different. Returnd from hairdressers today and now have locks that fit in a chemo scarf. It takes a bit of getting used to short hair.
