Good morning lovely ladies . Had my second EC Chemo session a week ago and it's not been too bad considering . Really wasn't looking forward to it ( now I know what's to look forward to ) but it was OK and the day passed quickly. One week on and I am feeling good enough to get out and about again . Since my last post I am rocking the bald look ( albeit in the house ). My hair decided to part company with my head a couple of weeks ago and I decided to take charge and go for the chop as I had my wig waiting in the wings . My hubby, bless him, volunteereΔ to be hairdresser and 10 mins later the job was done. It actually felt strangly liberating ( but blooming cold) . I have given the wig an airing in public a few times and so far no one's done a double take and if they do its their problem not mine . To make the most of so far so good between sessions I've got a couple of coffees with friends pencilled in and weekend away in Yorkshire just before round 3 so we will see how it goes .
Sending you all positive thoughts and love and hugs π

Thanks Chrissie. I try to keep positive and look on the bright side. under no illusions that it's going to get tougher with each one though but will worry about that when I have to . Hugs x
Sounds like you're doing really well at moment, great attitude towards it all, nice that you've arranged little treats to help you through, remember to arrange a MASSIVE treat for after your last chemo, you so deserve it, I wish a continued easy ish journey xxxxx
Amazing !!! Love that spirit.little treats do help and love yourself always. You will be able to get through trust me .Its not that bad . The Cancer b**** has to be killed .
I can very well relate with wearing the wig in public and having a care a damn attitude. Lol actually its other peoples problem not ours
I too had dreaded chemo but am almost close to my 6th tom.. Its absolutely doable and yes the positive spirit matters the most.
Sending across warm healing hugs.good luck for the rest. xxxx
That's really good, well done. Love your positive attitude. How many sessions are you scheduled for? Girlfriends are amazing lifters of spirits, I just spent a lovely couple of hours with some special ladies too. I start my first chemo session on Monday and as you would know I'm dreading it, so reading your post and the lovely replies is uplifting for me. I also have a wig on order. They are trying me with a cold cap but I've been told not only is it extremely uncomfortable, but still hair is lost. So, like you, taking control is brilliant. After all, many of us have lost a boob permanently, what's a bit of hair loss when it's only temporary? Keep up the good spirits. πΊππ
Morning Jac . I am having 6 sessions altogether so 4 more to go. I too had intended to use the cold cap but chickened out . After reading many ladies experiences I decided it wasn't for me. A holiday that involves anything resembling ice and snow is not my idea of fun so anything freezing on my head certainly isn't. π. I found eating little and often for the first couple of days helped me. Strangly raw celery carrot, Apple with houmous and pitta bread or rice crackers! Drinking hot ginger cordial ( get a good one)helped me with the nausea. Anyway best wishes for Monday .Hugs Kaz x
Try and detox a couple of days before chemo and also take good vit D supplement . Eating well with turmeric organic powered sprinkled in food also add to coconut oil form a paste as far soluble and put into smoothie , garlic good and beetroot banana advocado and apples and carrot smoothies help your immune system and also hell inflammation in the stomach . Reduce sugars and alcohol so glad all going well . If you get a bad stomach or diarrhoea bus company can be prescribed and helps love maggie
Good for you, keep rocking it! It's a tough time but we are here for you. I worked full time throughout chemotherapy and with a bald head, work was a great distraction but being bald was very cold! π
Little treats help, mine were a deep bubble bath or a hot chocolate in my favourite French cafe.
I have so much admiration for ladies like you who have to go through this and still hold down a job and/or look after young families. I am lucky enough to have been retired (early I hasten to add , I am 58 π) so do not have that added pressure. Treats are a must , I agree, dosnt have to be much either does it. Keep well Hugs Kaz x
Well done you ππ keep up your lovely bubbly and positive outlook and you will be better in no time. I went all out bald in and out of the home. Now that really was liberating ππ take care and enjoy your trip away. Lainey xx
Oops pressed the wrong button.... you have been an inspiration to me since I joined this site. Yes I can imagine that is very liberating. I have booked on the look good feel better workshop in January ( something to look forward to ) and ordered the Confidence Kit so that may inspire me to take the plunge and ditch the wig...who knows. Have a lovely weekend x
It's a pack with dvds and information on everything to do with looking after yourself during cancer treatments etc. Hair, wigs ,skin, nails etc etc . if you go on the Lgfb site you will see it. x
Well done Kazzerp for doing so well, remember to do a Look Good feel Better class, lookgoodfeelbetter.co.uk -was a wonderful experience, lots of lovely ladies offering advice on make up, skin care and you get a lovely bag of goodies after!
That's good, is a nice treat especially before the last one (my last one was in January too!) I managed to get on 2 different classes, one was the full one the other was where you brought your own make up and they showed you tips etc, (still ended up with a small goody bag ) I cold capped but thinned lots on top... you wait... when it grows back it's totally different, I have naturally wavy/curly hair... it's now manic curly... could give Leo Sayer a run for his money! lol xx
I would have gone bald outside as well as inside but, during the winter, it is a bit cold. There are some lovely hats and scarves available now. I had a wig which was lovely and very natural but only wore it on special occasions as it was quite warm.
I don't think I would have opted for the cold cap had it been offered (it was 6 years ago) but go for it if that's what you want to do. It's worth a try. If you cannot manage it, I would suggest that as soon as your starts coming out have your head shaved. Much easier to cope with. Keep up your bubbly attitude and it will get you through xx
Kazzerp im due my 3rd chemo on thursday. The 2nd wasn't 2 bad 4 me either. Bounced back alot quicker. Coping alot better than I thought I would. Alot of the horror stories contribute to the expectation of what we think itll be like. Seems like we've coped with the mild side effects.
I'm dying for a little holiday away. Definitely need to put it on my to do list.
Good luck for Thursday Bejan. Yes hopefully we will be blessed with milder side effects than some but main thing I think is to listen to your body and go with the flow if you can. make the most of the good days . Dont put the holiday on the to do list , get googling, book it ( didn't need to be far away) and get it on the done list ! xx
Woolly hats were my answer to the cold head problem! I wore mine at intervals, even indoors, when I needed it in between Chemo burn sessions! Had a lot of trouble regulating my body temperature during chemo - hard to find the balance between "shivering cold" and "boiled right through"!
I just wrote a post "Totally Liberated" then came across your post. Liberated is the perfect word to describe the feeling. So happy for you to feel the same, you are slightly ahead on me in chemo treatment, but you are doing fabulous. I like your attitude and feel positive in my way forward. Best wishes for a continuation of your journey back to health.
Morning Dolbycat . So glad you have decided to get rid and take control. You sound really positive, like I was and still am And I would agree with all the repliesyou've had from the amazing women on this site. It dosnt seem that long ago since I wrote that post but the time has flown by and I'm pleased to say I finished chemo at end of January. It was tough, not going to lie, but was completely doable. Just listen to your body , rest when you need to and get out and about when you can. I've just had node clearance op too but results this week showed no further spread and I don't need radiotherapy. Whoo hoo!! I just need the letrazole tablets now. So I'm in the light at the end of my personal tunnel and you will be there before you know it. Stay strong and positive , it's so important. Wishing you well for the rest of your treatments. Hugs Karen xx
I am so happy to read this ...I have my second cycle tomorrow ...was your second the same as the first? ....I too am wearing a wig out ...I still have hair but its now quite thin ( to me ) ...I am going to keep going with the cold cap as some saved is better than none to me ....I really was horrified at the prospect of wearing a wig ..but now ive done it ...I am quite happy ...after tomorrow I have 4 left ...good luck and thanks for this post ...I don't feel so alone xxx
