Pregnant or imagination !

Hi all,

I’m not sure if I’m pregnant or imagining things. I had unprotected sex on 4th , 7th,8th of August, I took the morning after pill (Ellaone) on the afternoon of the 7th August.

My cycle length differs and ranges from 28-32 days, however end of June/ early July I had a 32 day cycle and then this was followed by a 24 day cycle on the 28th July - does this mean I could of ovulated earlier on a 24 day cycle !? My period on the 24 day cycle wasn’t like my usual and lighter and shorter but was definitely a period

If so, then I would of ovulated smack bang around the time of unprotected sex, last week on 16th august I felt wet down there , when I went to the toilet I had pink discharge on the tissue, since 17th August I’ve had headaches everyday , mouth filling with saliva and feeling sick ( I did test positive for covid on a routine swab so the headaches could be down to that)

I also have had MEGA cramps down below, different from usual, more intense and right down in the vagina , and horrendous lower back pain , no sore boobs which is unusual as PMS always brings these on, I am also feeling exhausted , the past two days I’ve taken three hour naps late afternoon and still slept all night which is very unusual for me, I just don’t feel myself and haven’t for the past 10-12 days ( although could be covid ) I’m on day 29 of my cycle so if my period does come it’s due any day, I took a first response yesterday as per my GP advice but I did it in the evening it was negative, she said an accurate pregnancy test should be taken in the morning and 3 weeks after you had sex which would be Sunday coming.

Surely if I ovulated early and had a 24 day cycle then a pregnancy test should come up positive by now?

My body doesn’t feel like my body and I don’t know why! The Internet forums say best to wait until after a missed period and I’ve read a lot of women don’t get their positive until at least a week after a missed period especially on a irregular cycle, however ovulating that early on I just feel if I was it would have come up positive by now.

I also had a missed miscarriage around 9 years ago and tested negative each time and had only one faint positive as embryo had died and hormone levels fell - this makes me anxious

Any advice

Thank you :)

If you've taken the morning after pill, you might find this is what has caused the spotting and feeling strange as it will have affected your cycle. If your pregnancy test is negative, then you might just need to wait it out for your period to start and your cycle to get back to normal.

Have you started to use contraception if you're having sex regularly and not wanting to become pregnant? As this could also be making your cycle different or giving you some side effects?

Thanks for the reply, no I haven’t started using contraception yet as I have recently found out I have a condition which means I don’t absorb things properly in my stomach which now puts me at risk of the pill not working properly. Still no period yet , I will wait it out until Sunday when it will be three weeks, then I will most likely take the coil

Fingers crossed for you, I expect having covid and taking the morning after pill, would leave you a bit off colour for a bit. There has been quite a few reports of people with covid having theirs cycles messed up through it, so hopefully that's all it is.

I had the Mirena coil for years and found it really convenient. Good luck with it all x

Why have unprotected sex if you don't want to get pregnant. Why don't you start taking responsibility?

Why on earth would you post something so rude and judgemental on a support network? This site is for woman who are looking for advice and support in regards to having terminations or taking the morning after pill and you've no idea about people's individual circumstances. This site is not the place for rude and unkind behaviour.

I would wait at least three weeks from last unprotected intercourse and check again. These medications are never 100% effective, and get less effective the longer you wait. I doubt it will cover you if having unprotected sex again after using Ellaone. Ultimately if you don't want to get pregnant get contraception as you're chancing it otherwise.
