Hi just wondering if u can put my mind at ease please. My lmp was 29/03/14 my periods stopped last year due to drastic weight loss and only returned in jan 2014 and were very irregular. I had sexual intercourse on 08/04/2014 and got a positive pregnancy test 04/05/2014. I went for a private scan 24/05/2014 when according to an online due date calculator I would have been 8weeks (can you confirm this for me please) she also done a vaginal scan and saw 2 sacs that measured 15mm each 5-6 weeks but no yolks, she told us it didn't look hopefully. I went to my hospital for another u/s 02/05/2014 were it was just much the same. She said they were absolutely perfect sacs but that was it. She wanted to do another scan in a few days to double check with it being twins but her consultant said no I've just to get a d&c done this Friday. I'm really worried that there might be a slight chance that my babies r only small or am I just being stupid and should just face facts. I have a 14 year old daughter which I sailed through my pregnancy with, I have never even heard of a blighted ovum before. I haven't even had so much as a twinge, pain, spotting or bleeding. I would appreciate any comments or advice you could give me. Many thanks

Hi Pamela,

I am so sorry for the delay in getting back to you. How are you? It sounds like you were given some conflicting advice which must have been very distressing.

The Miscarriage Association have produced a specific leaflet regarding blighted ovum, a particular kind of early miscarriage, that might be helpful for you: miscarriageassociation.org.... provide support and information about If you feel you need some support or to discuss how you are feeling, they have a helpline, information about local support groups, and you can get in touch via email too: miscarriageassociation.org.uk/

I hope some of this helps. Again, I am so sorry for the delay in getting back to you.

Best wishes,

Katherine
