Hi I've just arrived home after having my first zoledronate infusion. I drove to and from appointment. I took paracetamol half an hour before and had lots of water to drink throughout the infusion. As recommended by others on here I asked for the infusion to be given at a slower rate so over 30 mins as it may help with side effects. I was told I may have flu like symptoms tomorrow but it will soon pass and if so to take paracetamol and continue with plenty of fluids. Wishing you all the best with your infusion.

My husband drove me as I wasn't sure how I'd feel afterwards, tbh I'm glad he did, I didn't feel ill, just a bit shaky, I had it mid December and it's a 40 minute drive and it was a late appointment so dark when we came out. I'm not too sure what Nanmay means about it being slower as mine took a good 45 minutes if not a bit longer, I was there for at least one and a half hours as we were just over the 2 hr carpark charge.I didn't have too bad a reaction, mildly fluey, couldn't be bothered to do anything for a couple of days but nothing major.

Hope you get on ok

They were going to run the infusion in over 15 mins which seems really fast. They also put a flush through afterwards.

Goodness, jolly fast!! Yes, I guess they must put a flush though to everyone. Is it your 1st? She did say it wouldn't take so long next time.

Thanks everyone for your replies. I am home and feeling fine. It took about 20minutes then I had to sit for 20mins. I also had another 10 mins to make sure the canula sight stopped bleeding as I am o blood thinners. (I was given tea and uscuirs while I waited) So far so good.

Yes you will have no problem driving on that day, I felt fine straight after the infusion. My problems started in the middle of the night, and just got worse from then on.
