Hi had osteoporosis diagnosis 6 years ago after being diagnosed with breast cancer was given 3 years of 6 monthly zolendronic acid infusions 6 years later have cracked vertebra have just received recent Dena scan scores these are all completely new to me the cracked vertebra is L8 I only have scores for 1-4 L1 -3.7 L2 -5.4 L3-4.8L4 -4.6 do you not get scores for all vertebra and all the charts I have looked at only go up to 4 sorry it’s a long post just trying to understand it all.

Hi, it’s almost impossible to find anything online worse than -4. I have seen other posts on here which are worse though. I know my lumber spine is -5. However it was my Thorasic spine where I had my fracture and have no score for that. I think when you have a DEXA scan they usually scan the lumber spine and hip giving a score for the femoral neck. If you want more clarity on your scores I would advise contacting the ROS nurses who are very informative.

Perhaps you mean T8 as there is no L8. Thoracic vertebra tend to fracture more easily and you can presume they will have similar scores to your lumbar vertebra.

Well it's a high score and they may need to use anabolic meds to fix that rather than anti resorptive ... discuss in the osteoporosis clinic. A private REMS scan may give a bit more info (osteoscan) but as you have already fractured you know your bone quality is not too good and they need to treat it
