Hello. I have been on Evenity for 3 months. It is difficult to know what treatment to choose. Reading through all risk factors and side effects of any of the drug treatments is enough to put you off. However, if there is a chance that it might improve the condition and prevent further fractures then it is worth considering. I chose Evenity based on the fact that it is a bone builder and maintenance drug. I couldn't see the point of taking drugs for maintenance only when I could have something that had the potential to increase my bone density. I was also advised that Evenity needs to be 1st treatment to be most effective and that should be within 1 year of fracture. Not sure whether this is set in stone! Dental problems on any of these treatments do look scary but I think this is more to do with extractions and rare. Sorry I have not experienced the cold sensation you describe. I did have this in my leg after a wedge fracture and MRI showed trapped root nerve. I had acupuncture and this this help. Wishing you all the best

Hi, I came off AA after talking to my doctor about injections I had heard about. After a while, I heard that I was to get Denosumab injections twice a year. I've had one so far and (after seven compression fractures) I haven't had any more fractures, so it looks as if it is working. Fingers crossed. My next injection is in January and they want a blood test before that.

Hello!

Have you considered Reclast infusions? You do them once a year for three years. I took Actonel (similar, I believe, to what you are taking) for one year. I had unacceptable side-effects. Reclast is basically the same med, but it bypasses your esophagus and stomach and it has been much easier for me. I studied all the different options and felt that Reclast had benefits, but seemed less extreme than the others. You might ask your doctor about it. Good luck!

I was only on that tablet for about 1 month before I started the injections. I had to go to the dentist to get my teeth checked before starting the tablet. My dentist reassured me that my teeth would be fine. I have not experienced any cold sensations in my spine.

Hi I have same T score in spine and had fractures in spine. I to was on AA but they explained it was just maintenence drug so now I'm on Teriparatide it is acdaily injection and I seem to be doing ok although it has only been 1 week. Like you I was terrified of these drugs but after such a painful frature and a crumbling spine I know I had no choice. I was given the choice of injections so went for Teriparatide from reading it seemed to tolerated ok. Good luck in your journey

hi

I also have Denosamab injection every 6 months at g.p. as others on here have.no problems at all with it.even though I am 80 have never had a fracture and dexa shows no further loss of bone since having injections.i think that you only have to have them for 3 years and you are protected, but I am not sure.good luck.

Have they rulef out hyperparathyroidism as a cause? Its cureable with surgery and your bone density will improve. Get your GP to test your calcium, parathyroid and vitamin d levels

Hello. Can I just also suggest you have a simple blood test for hyperparathyroidism? It is NOTHING to do with your thyroid… I did my own research when I was diagnosed, my GP knew nothing about the connection with osteoporosis, but it’s important to check. Good luck, Fran 😉
