#BoneMatters, our monthly online Q+A sessions – hear from leading experts in osteoporosis and bone health about the subjects that matter to you.
Our 25 minute gentle ‘movement’ session is led by Bex Townley. She has worked for 30 years as an exercise professional, for 20 years with people living with long term conditions like osteoporosis. Bex is a director at Later Life Training a not-for-profit organisation training exercise professionals. She contributes regularly to the successful Facebook group Make Movement Your Mission offering movement ‘snacks’ 3 times a day since the Pandemic to encourage members to move more and keep physically active for wellness and independence.
We lose muscle and bone strength as part of the aging process but sitting less and moving more helps to reduce this decline. There is always something you can do by moving more and in this film Bex helps build confidence and understanding so you can make a start with exercise. By improving your range of movement and getting joints and muscles ready, you can begin to sit less and move more. As strength and balance improve you will be also less likely to fall over – an important reason why bones break. Bex offers movement in both the sitting and standing position so there is something here for you, [or a family member or friend], however mobile you are.
