HI everyone, I'm under some pressure to start medication for osteo but worried about side effects. I was given some AA to try, took one and then stopped due to fear! !I had no side effects from the one I took.
Nurse has told me my last results were -2.9 and -2.7. I can't remember which was hip and which was spine.
I've been walking for 45 mins twice a day for months, taking max vit D and K2, had a bad fall in august, went down on my knees and face, hands but was just bruised.
Got DEXA scan in December and the nurse has asked me to phone to get results early from consultant via secretary.
Am I fooling myself that I can get better through exercise and diet. Feeling very confused and scared.
Any advice welcome.

Yes, it's possible to improve bone health through exercise and a healthy diet, supplementing to make up for any potential deficiencies. Exercise needs to be as high impact as possible (so long as it's safe for you), such as jogging, hopping, jumping, skipping, dancing, together with progressive weight training.
If you have broken no bones I wouldn’t touch the drugs. Keep doing what you’re doing and many have reported good results with your regime. Your numbers aren’t too bad anyway. Mine are worse and I won’t take any of the drugs for osteoporosis.
I completely understand your fear and, for me (and it’s always a personal choice) the fear of the medication is much higher than the fear of not.
Please don’t feel under pressure… maybe do some research …that’s what I did.
Do ask your GP about a blood test for hyperparathyroidism… nothing to do with the thyroid… since this is a condition you can have ( I did) and no osteoporosis medication will have an effect without sorting this out first.
Wishing you lots of luck and don’t rush to decide,
