Has anyone got advice about travelling with a Terrossa pen. I’m concerned about keeping the medication cold enough when flying

Hi there , I have taken my Terrossa pen on various flights ( longest 6 hours ) I take it in a ‘cool bag ‘ with 4 small reusable gel ice packs . I also take a letter from my doctor to confirm that I need this medication - but have never been asked for it . I’m sure it can actually keep at room temperature for up to 24 hours or maybe even longer . x

Thank you. That’s very helpful. Did you manage to get the gel packs into a freezer for the return journey?

Yes I have always managed to do that either when we have stayed in an apartment or Hotels - which you can always contact beforehand to ask if they would be able to freeze them for you ( which is only really the day before you travel ) .

From 2018 -2020 I was on daily Forsteo injections, I understand this is the same / very similar to Terrossa. With the Forsteo pens it was possible to get a travel cool bag and special medical freeze packs. These packs lasted longer than normal ones and therefore you could travel with an easier mind. The bag and freezer packs where delivered with one of the earlier pen deliveries. It might be worth making an enquiry with who ever signs off your Terrossa medication.

Hi Zumbablue, I am T1 diabetic and have to keep my insulin cool when travelling. I use Frio wallets they are primarily made for diabetics but i googled and they do pen size wallets for other medication pens. The benefit is you don't need to carry ice packs the Frio wallets you simply put them in a basin covered with cold water and they puff up due to the Gel in them, No need for a freezer where you are going. I hope you find a solution.

Hi, a few weeks ago i took terrosa., teriparitide injection pen on a cruise.Thought travel agent understood pen required to be stored in fridge between 2-8 degrees-just house fridge temperature. on Boarding, a cooler thing in cabin which engineer on ship said would not get to required temp.medical facility would not store pen ,so no option but to use what they provided.Had started cartridge 4 days prior to boarding,so after 9 day trip., used cartridge for remaining 28 day period knowing possibly destabilised. In future i will ask a lot more questions, should have ph celebrity in Miama myself.
