fentanyl patches & baclofen

anyone know why fentanyl patches turn white & fall off,meaning I have to change them earlier? Not just since heat either,had 2 of five do this before. Thought might just be unglued so put micropore on edges as advised but when major pain hit,had to use new one,difference was massive pain wise,so obvious drug not working when white. No good try explain to stroppy prescription nurse doesn’t want to know,just says can’t have them too soon after last lot. Hope ended order problem now though.

Also Baclofen, only take one pre shower,barely cover the 10 mins needed stand up for shower and wears off within 3 hours.Don’t want take any more as upsets guts badly,anything else I could ask for with less side effects?

Talk to your pharmacist about this. It's never happened to me and I've been using them for 10 years. Definitely talk to your pharmacist.

Think better do.Happens to my friend too.Wonder if it’s coz we use Dove shower,or from sweat,though only happens occ. Thanks.

Hi . My patches go white and stop working either in the hot weather or if I get too hot with the heating or if I forget to change it on time ! I really notice a change in my pain level if I forget to change it. I know what you mean about the Prescription Nurse ! We also have one who doesn't believe that hot weather can affect the patch ! I wonder whether they have ever had to have patches or take pain meds. I haven't heard of Baclofen. I have the patch , Dipipanone and Cyclizine which is an Opioid with anti sickness but it's an old painkiller and it has been banned in a few countries and is horrendously expensive and I think will be phased out . I am now ' addicted' to it since I had Endometriosis 40 year's ago and 3 major ops when I was 30 - 34 and have been on Opioid's ever since. I'm also on Oramorph now because the fracture's are so painful. I wouldn't be without Fentanyl or Oramorph. This hasn't been much help to you....sorry! I back you 100%about the white patch though. I think , sometimes, that we maybe get a bad batch. Tell your Nurse that you know somebody else who has the same problem but why do some medical people think that we make thing's up ? Why would we because none of us want to be like this or have to take these chemicals ?!Good luck with everything and take care. Please let us know how you get on.

Well,I spoke to chemist & was swapped to Durogesic patches and last one turned white again day before due to be changed.Also said I could simply phone them to order meds,give them 7-10 days notice ! Couldn’t believe it after all trouble I was having with Scrooge nurse. Did yesterday for inhaler & they delivered today!Best service I have ever had ever from anyone ever!😃🤗🤗Thanks guys. 🤗

I've had this before many times and, for me, it tends to happen when I've been getting the usual hot flushes more than normal, or the weather is warm (on hols in Spain for example).

They go kind of wrinkly, the adhesive becomes useless and then they go quite rigid, drop off or (worse!) stay on in a small area, irritate the skin as it starts moving around.

Anyway, there's no point at all trying to get them to stick back on, imho.

What I have found is that Matrifen brand is slightly thicker patch and that doesn't tend to happen with them as often. Also find that 50s stick better than 100s if you're hot too.

If your nurse doesn't believe you, keep a diary. Photos are time stamped, so you can prove when they've been useless.

I've just changed GPs and they're having a fit about the prescription I've been having for at least 7/8 years. I got grilled by the pharmacist about how many I've had this year (because it was lower than she thought -- ready answered: I got the others prescribed in Spain!) What I don't get is why they're grilling me for having LESS!!! I can't be abusing it if I'm getting LESS, FFS!!!!

just saw this,thanks .Yep,you always think or are told you are doing something wrong!See if it happens now cooler.Did try sticking down with micropore but when agony kicked it realised not just sticky prob,not getting pain relief either.Gosh,are you on 50/ 100 mcg ? You must have major pain,thought mine was bad! I got down from 50 to 12mcg as lost 3 stones re nausea,lost appetite plus didn’t want to get addicted.Top up with Tramadol,hotbots,ice pax,beer!wotever works.😁
