Hi, can anyone tell me whether a Dexa scan picks up fractures please?

Hi Jumpey,Yes fractures can be seen on Dexa scans.

If fractures are suspected by having the scan, the consultant will then usually request an x ray to confirm it.

I have had many problems with X rays.

My local hospital have never been able to diagnose them (due to incompetence)

The larger hospital has never had a problem with my diagnosis either by dexa or x ray.

I was told that fractures are shown on the scan and will be listed in our report. But I have read other posts on op forums where fracture had not shown on the DEXA scan and were only shown on either a spinal x-ray or an MRI
