good evening I have PMR and have recently had a Dexa scan - really because I wanted to avoid taking Alendronic Acid - I’ve not seen the full report but my GP said it showed osteopenia- I’m struggling to understand my result. T score for my spine is -0.3 That’s the one I can’t interpret properly and my Hip says. -1.3.
Help please and thank you!

osteopenia is not that bad. I have osteoporosis, which is worse than osteopenia, and my main treatment is the Marodyne vibration platform. It was the result of the research done to treat and prevent bone loss in the astronauts so it works. My doctor is making sure my hormone, thyroid levels are adequate for building bone. I get my calcium in my food. I am having good results. There’s some good lectures on YouTube about the Marodyne and osteoporosis.
I've just been put on alendronic after years of avoiding, had osteopenia for a number of years. Have now managed to fracture my spine and now have osteoporosis. Is the Marodyne vibration platform very expensive? That could be why it's not generally prescribed.
I to have severe osteoporosis and recently had two severe wedge fractures which has lead to kyphosis
My hip score last month was -3.7 plus I have lost height
I was almost 5foot 2 now I’m 4.10
I have a vibrate machine but it really shakes you about so I think not a good idea to use it
I got it yrs ago why I didn’t use it back then I will never know it might of saved me from what I’m going through now as I can’t do much in the excersize department due to severe shortness of breath I have severe emphysema
This plate u have mention is it safe if you have had spine fractures
Great to see you sharing information. Just a reminder, that we do have a fact sheet on vibration therapy which provides the current expert view based on the research - the different types and whether they strengthen bones and are safe to use. strwebprdmedia.blob.core.wi...
the Marodyne LIV is a gentle vibration of 30 Hz. It sounds like your machine is higher Hz. I wouldn’t like it either. Can you adjust the setting to the lower Hz?
Sorry for the late reply mine would be far to strong to stand in I thought maybe a could just put a leg on then do the other but I don think just putting my leg on it would benefit me at all
Iv lost all my muscles and all the skin on my calf muscle is flabby
It’s awful and I’m getting weaker through not being able to excersize
There isn’t any chance I would be able to do weights I can’t even walk further than a few steps
This is normal for your age. What you can do is try to take fisetin quercetin and nmn.Fisetin-500mg and quercetin 2x500mg will remove senescent cells ,dump inflammation and NMN 500mg will activate new stem cells grow.D3 and K2 is good to be there when osteoblasts start working. If you arrest multiplication now you will haven't problems in future.I don't think is good idea for meds.Overal they really don't work as medicine .They kill osteoclasts and when you stop because there are time limits bone resorption will go on max as fracture risk if in best case you don't have other side effects. All 3 supplements has been researched exactly for your type of osteo problems.Osteopenia/osteoporosis is condition in which people get porotic bone from various reasons.I assume that in your case is age related Some people get osteoporosis of lack of some bone building ingredients and their absorption and transport to the bone. Some have genetic problems with B9,B12 , Homocysteine high levels ECT .From old age there is building up of senile cells. If one cell become senile than cells around that one slowly become senile .They don't function but they send signal of their existence. To replace them is with senolitics to remove them and at same time to produce new stem cells which will replace senile is with nmn.
Hi thank you for that! I am printing it off to absorb and try to understand - it’s quite technical for me! Pleased that my spine is “normal” hips slight osteopenia which could worsen over time with Prednisolone which obviously would like to avoid. Your name BobDok - are you a medic/Dr - anyway thank you again.
No...I am former sufferer.Have osteoporosis- 3.1,7 spinal,2 rib,4 limb fractures.Last week I just unload full size container myself.I learned a lot. Some times I share what I learned.Found that many things are business involving health and people don't have wide outlook.
I have osteoporosis effecting my spine and hip. I am a 70 year old male. I also have had multiple joint replacements. I live in the desert of California. I have noticed that when I travel to the beach the humidity intensifies my bone pain to an intolerable level. I hate to say it but I can’t think of anywhere is the UK where it is not humid. I wish you well in seeking pain relief.
Sungolfer, my Dexa Scores are worse than yours, but I took 5 books out of the library about steoporosis and read them all (twice) to educate myself about the problem. All of the prescription medications for bone strengthening can have side effects, some of them nasty. As I am not willing to add more possible side effects on top of the ones I am getting from Prednisone, i have researched bone building supplements and have opted to take those instead, along with doing a weight-bearing exercise program deigned by a Pilates instructor who also has osteoporosis and I am looking into a vibration platform and weighted vest as well.
I think patients often go along with what their Doctors, recommend, but it never hurts to educate yourself before making a decision about accepting what they offer.
I am in remission at the moment with PMR but I have taken Alendronjc Acid for a few years. I was also diagnosed with osteopenia in the early days. I have just had my latest dexa scan and the results have come back normal. I do take Adcal D3 and wanted to stop that but the chemist said he thinks everybody should take it. I am 79 now and I exercise every day, I do think that exercise helps.
