Side effects from oral osteoporosis medication.

This is very interesting regarding side effects around taking the medication. Please ring the Royal Osteoporosis specialist nurses on their free helpline to discuss this further. 0808 800 0035

Are you referring to a specific thread? Could you provide a link? Please and thanks.

I think they are referring to sunshine 16 last post

So how do I find that? A link would be helpful. This is not the only forum I follow and posts rapidly get buried as the other one is hyperactive!

What does this have to do with side effects? This is the post you are referring me to and I had already looked at it. It's about Vitamin K2, not about OP med side effects: healthunlocked.com/boneheal...

Sorry I misunderstood message too.

ROSAdmin2 - Please can you explain a bit more what you mean by "This is very interesting.." and "to discuss further"? What is the "this" and is this a message to us all? I don't want to miss something important! Thank you in advance for your reply. :-)

So this post then?

All of this goes to show we do pay attention to these threads!

Glad you got help from ROS. What did they say about the fact you're still getting the side effects?

Just that they have many phone calls from folk saying they have side effects after first injection and subsequent and they don't know why people are told only after the first one!

Did they mention any plans to get a response from the producers of AA? ROS has valuable information if they get many calls on the subject, to try to get a change whereby everyone will know all they could know before starting the med. Surely it's important for people who already have issues not to have these made worse because no timely warning was given?

Sorry to muddle you all with my post! I noticed the side effects about the eyes and taking alendronic acid

Can you please tell me more about side effects of AA and eyes. Can’t find the item you talking about!

I'm as confused as everyone else by this post, even with the explanation further down about AA and effects on the eyes. Can I suggest that if anyone gets any side effects at all from any medications, it should be reported via the yellow card scheme (UK): yellowcard.mhra.gov.uk/. If everyone reported these, I suspect there would be more side effects listed than currently. For example, I read of one lady who kept getting breast cysts while taking AA, (never had them before, they stopped as soon as she stopped the AA), yet I haven't seen that listed as a possible side effect.

This may relate to something I posted, a possible side effect of AA is uvuitis (might have mis spelt this), IF that were to effect my eyes the problem is that I have glaucoma which doesn't respond well to the uveitis which is treated with steroid eye drops, I've had a lot of issues with one eye recently which has meant steroid drops and at one stage I was putting about 12 glaucoma drops into the effected eye a day just to counteract the side effects of steroids and that's what I'm trying to avoid, (I now put 2 drops a day into the eye)

I'm due to take my third infusion of zolendronic acid and then to have a DEXA scan. Having watched my mother suffer from osteoporosis and unable to take many other preventive measures myself, i.e. limited exercise due to long term illness and disability and allergies including dairy products, I am happy to try medication which helps. But ambiguous posts arent' helpful.
