I have fallen many times amd I canot help it..
Hi mholloway,
I am sorry to read your posting and also that you keep falling. What help are you getting? Are you on any medication and supplements? Have you been referred to a Falls Clinic or a Fracture Liaison Service? Are you in the UK?
Yes I really think you need a wheelchair
What do your GP, surgical team, physiotherapist etc. recommend? It all depends on individual circumstances as being in a wheelchair is helpful for some people but can lead to greater deconditioning and muscular weakness (possibly leading to more accidents/fractures) in others.
Hi mhollowway,
I am so very sorry to hear the issues you are having, I hope you have got yourself a good consultant?
Do you have a thyroid or other autoimmune disease?
Have you been taking any bone treatment drugs up to now?
Sending best wishes and please keep in touch.
Have you tried a rollator (walker with seat)? It will support you while walking and so reduce the risk of falls, you will still get much needed exercise rather than sitting in a chair all the time. This will help to keep your bones strong.
No a wheelchair is not the answer unless your consultant has advised it, so have you had both hips replaced and both knees?? Best person to ask is your orthopedic surgeon, but once you take to a chair its the best way to weaken muscles and bones completely, ask about crutches or like poems suggested a rolator, I was in a chair for nearly 4 months and all muscles on my left leg atrophied, still not fixed after 18 months but I'm working on it although still on crutches.
We have no idea what you are asking about, what is a 'wallchair?' If you mean a wheelchair, then what other 'options' were you wondering about? Were you in a terrible crash? You definitely want to try to maintain as much mobility as you can. Good luck to you.
