Thanks so much for your info and link about osteoporosis. I won't risk the ankle weights as my knees can be a bit troublesome. Probably osteoarthritis. I walk long distances with my walking club but sometimes steep descents cause pain. In general they're better when I exercise more. I assume because I've built up the muscles but it's hard balancing what's beneficial against causing damage!

Funny how one part of the body affects another. A bad back can affect the hips which can affect the knees which can affect the feet. And, unfortunately, all in reverse order as well! I guess we just do what we can, get the help we need when we need it, and hope to keep ticking over in reasonable comfort as long as possible!
