Whatever the rationale for that decision, it doesn't seem particularly supportive of your circumstances. It will probably be worth your while to phone the helpline of NOS (details on the home page of this forum) - and they'd probably talk to you about whether there are options that are available to you.
There's a discussion in the comments of this post about general diet and supplements that members find to be helpful: healthunlocked.com/boneheal...
I've seen linlow , HeronNS , and others post some very helpful advice about diet, supplements, and exercise as a way of improving bone density.
Good Luck!
I agree do contact the NOS helpline, also referral to physio that can advise you on the appropriate exercise to help strengthen the supporting muscles without risk of injuring the spine.
NOS publications page have lots of pdf downloads on diet and exercise guidance, but I would say initially walking would be a good exercise for you and done correctly wall push ups .

I would not recommend any of the infusions recommended by your clinician. They truly are pimps of the Pharmaceutical Industry.
One tried to push Denosomab on me. Without informing me of the toxic side effects. I looked this drug up online and discovered that it can give you lock jaw and brittle bones. I would be worse off taking it than not. Both the clinician and 'senior nurse Ada' at UCHL were quite insistent that I take this infusion and in the case of ADA very aggressive on the phone. She is an African nurse and I'm not sure if that is the culture of African nurses but I told her to back off or I would make a complaint to the hospital advisory board.
I also noticed that Amgen who manufacture this toxic drug have donated many £millions to the NHS, and funded research. They also give 'incentives' to doctors not only cash but also by flying them out to exotic resorts around the world disguised as 'conferences' when really they are five star holidays.
Amgen who manufactures Denosomab has been fined $150 Million Dollars in the USA for making false claims and illegal marketing. So do be wary of both Deonsomab and also Zolondronic acid, another infusion that has toxic side effects. Novorton who manufactures Zolondronic Acid has donated many £millions to NHS University hospitals so doctors and clinicians feel obliged to the company prescribe those toxic drugs. Also the procurers wo work at the hospitals are under pressure to purchase those expensive drugs which do nothing to resolve the problems associate with Osteoporosis.
Far better to follow a healthy diet and get involved in weight bearing exercise to strengthen your bones. Sunshine which provides natural vitamin D is also beneficial.
I 100% agree Siennasea ! After being diagnosed in August I was prescribed A.Acid .
I then saw a Rheumatologist who was very gruff . I explained my stomach problems . She said "right we can give you an infusion now " I refused ....At that moment I did not even know what the name of it was ,what its side effects were etc etc ....She was very insistent and quite cross that I refused .
By the way although according to my dxa scan ( and thats all) I have Osteoporosis in my spine and osteopenia elsewhere .I have never broken a bone . I wonder how many patients wander blindly into a life time of unnecessary medications because they trusted their doctor ?
Hi there so sorry u having such a really hard time - ref tablets etc heres some info from a fellow osteoporosis sufferer as mine too is in the spine - i have a daily supplement which is made up of mostly calcium and vit d for this, but it can be bought in a powder form and u mix it up with water so that its totally digestible. On top of this there is one essential monthly tablet but what u can do with this is just to crush it up very small - all u need to do this is a metal teaspoon or tablespoon and u can either bravely swallow it quick mixed up with a small amount of water, or it u not diabetic or anything with sugar problems u can mix it up with a small amount of runny honey (standard commercial stuff like Gales u can get from the supermarket is fine, u dont need a special medical type and that will go down ok. If its a bit too thick then just dilute it with enough warm water which is how u would take tablets anyway with water but just make sure its not too hot to burn your throat. If u are diabetic or sugar restricted then just crush it up and gulp down but with plenty of warm water, dont get the water too hot though cos can sometimes interfere with the efficiency of the medicine as it can break it down a bit.
Hope this may be helpful and if u have any other related questions do please come back to me again as have been dealing with it for years and altho not a nurse or any kind of medical person, sometimes just other peoples trial and error solving of problems can save u a lot of time and energy?
