I would appreciate a daily exercise programme to help me in my battle with osteoporosis. I have to walk using a frame as my balance is terrible and I'm frightened of falling over.

You could find out from your surgery if you have an
Integrated falls and bone health service in your area. You may need to be referred by your GP.
You can call the NOS helplines 0808 800 0035 and speak with a nurse - It's now free from all UK Landlines, Mobiles and Call boxes. They may well be able to help you or at least point you in the right direction.

Hi Barry, I work at my local leisure centre, when my shift finished I went into the gym and showed your post to one of our fitness motivators (gym instructor), his advice was very very gentle exercises in water should be OK for you
Thanks for the information.. Perhaps it doesn't exist but I'd really like something I can do at home. Getting to a pool would be a major problem for me.
I think there are probably chair exercises which would be good for you as you would have a support to hang onto. As your strength increases you may be able to learn some qi gong or tai chi, both of which can be adapted for various levels of disability and which will greatly improve your sense of balance. I hope you can find someone in your area to help with things like this.
After chatting with you healthcare team (and asking their advice), I'd recommend looking into some gentle yoga or Tai Chi under the guidance of an extremely experienced practitioner who can give you specific attention for your condition. Might also be worth having a few appointments with a physiotherapist. All the best!
hope you're mobility is improving, suggest you look at OP Society site, they have comprehensive sets of exercises to do at home. OP exercises are about balance and building up your supporting muscles and also also good for general health, I'm convinced that regular daily exercise is the way to go with OP. Once you've built up your confidence you can then go on to Tai Chi which is holistic and all about balance, kind regards................
