Hi Everyone. I just wanted to let everyone know that I'm feeling/ doing better this week. After three weeks of changing/increasing blood pressure meds to keep it from spiking to stroke level and also just jumping all over the place, the Dr thinks this combination/dosage may work. I sure hope so. Up until Monday I was basically chained to a blood pressure monitor and spent more time in bed than anything trying to keep it from getting so high. I wasn't allowed to do anything really except fix something to eat and take care of Ollie and the kitties. This was the compromise to staying in the hospital while they figured it out. I couldn't do that because I have a Chiweinie and five cats who are spoiled rotten and depend on me. My blood pressure is not quite where he wants it but it's staying stable and he thinks it will get better as I continue taking it plus hopefully lose weight. So then comes the second diagnosis/problem. My A1C has hovered all around prediabetes level for about 5 years. Well it decided to cross the line to Diabetes level. So he's started me on Metformin 250 mg twice a day and of course I have to work on my eating habits - cut back on sugar and carbs, if I do eat carbs try to eat whole grain, lean meat like fish and chicken and I can also have beans since it's a good protein. Jimmy has diabetes and this is the same Dr so I basically know the plan he recommended. It's the Meditation Diet but the Diabetes one. There's no counting anything, just eating healthier instead of a piece of cake, have a fruit smoothie and things like that. And of course he wants me to lose weight. I've lost a pound. LOL. He wants me to SLOWLY start exercising/walking and increase as I get stronger. I've had pneumonia twice since Christmas plus almost a month sedentary with my blood pressure so I quickly found out yesterday when I went out in the yard that I do have to take it slowly. He's giving me three months to get my A1C down with the low dose Metformin, eating healthy and exercising. If it's not down, then we go to finger sticks and checking it all the time and more regimented. So I'm sure gonna do my best because I'm scared of needles and those little pokey things draw blood so that counts as a needle to me. So send me good thoughts and prayers please as I begin this journey. Sharon Dixon ❤️

Thank you. I'm sure trying. I did manage to mess up and get my blood sugar to low a couple of days ago. The Dr had told me to be sure to take the metformin with food. Well I just thought it was for the digestive side effects it can cause. I'm supposed to take one in the morning and one at supper time. I am not good at eating early. More of a brunch person. That morning all I could get down was a couple of bites of cream of wheat and may be half a piece of toast. Then I went outside to work on the gate for the fence facing the road. I had been working on it for a couple of hours and I was almost done when all the sudden I felt dizzy and honestly couldn't remember how to work the drill/driver. Then I noticed my t hans were shaking really bad My Grannie had diabetes and I remembered when she'd get to much insulin and her blood sugar would bottom out and she'd get dizzy and shake. So I managed to get in the house and grabbed my fruit smoothie. After drinking it I started feeling better so I laid down and was looking up if Metformin could make you blood sugar too low. Of course Murphy's Law. It doesn't usually but in certain circumstances it can. Like when you don't eat enough food when you take it especially if combined with taking another diabetes medicine OR something that naturally lowers your blood sugar such as a period of exercise or physical activity. 😂 Well I guess I found out that 2 bites of cream of wheat and half a piece of toast is not enough food. 😂. I am feeling better though so that's good.
