Hello everyone, 1st time posting. Has anyone had side effects with Ramipril where they have developed a tickly cough that will not go away. Does it go away or how do I stop it. I have since been taken off it and taking another drug.
Would appreciate a response asap, as coughing is driving me nuts!
TIA 🙂

not on this one myself, Jojo, but I’ve seen posts in the past with this issue. But my husband was on it for a few years and his coughing hasn’t changed since coming off.
Anything we ingest will have some effect or other, good or bad, and sometimes it’s a balance, or maybe choose another drug.
In your place I’d have a good conversation with my pharmacist. In the UK they are encouraged to help their customers with such issues and indeed are more up to speed with medications than doctors are. For instance, many high street pharmacists do stints in their local hospitals and as such they advise the doctors there.
Hi there, I came off rampiril for this very reason. The cough drive me mad especially at night. I work with patients and covid was a new thing back then so I was always saying I hadnt got it! Luckily the cough went away a few weeks after changing meds.
Thanks for replying Cyclinghero, there is light at the end of the rainbow. I however already had an underlying cough and had a cold recently, so maybe it is taking longer for me. I live in hope. I am exhausted. 😩
I had a similar problem a few years ago. I used to feel like I was going to choke and it only used to happen during the night. My GO switched me to losartan potassium and the cough went.
Thanks for replying Sisaac6, I cough to the point of almost throwing up. My voice is going and I just need a solution. I have a chest xray and having blood tests, so waiting for a solution.
I've been on Ramipril for a year or two. It's a known side effect. I occasionally have a dry cough from this. It only lasts a few minutes then goes . It's much easier to live with than the itchy skin I had from the previous medication.
