Since taking Ramipril my shortness of breath has got a lot worse, I am a smoker so always had a bit of shortness of breath but now it’s got quite bad, do all blood pressure meds cause this and should I ask for a different one ?

If you’re in the UK, SylB, your pharmacist would probably have this information - they tend to be more knowledgeable about drug side effects than doctors do.

I haven’t heard of shortness of breath with Ramipril just a persistent cough. Definitely speak to GP, lots of other meds available. 🍀

As a smoker Ramipril is the least of your worries when it comes to shortness of breath. Speaking as an one time 40 a day smoker I can assure you the COPD that my former habit left me with has a far greater effect on my breathing than 10mg of Ramipril ever has!
