When I was first prescribed Amlodipine I was told that if I got any swelling in the ankles to contact the Doctor straight away. I am sure they will find a safer alternative for you.

My legs and feet swell often, but I thought that was because of water retention. Don’t these meds work by reducing water and lowering blood pressure. Never thought the swelling was a side effect. Thought the amlodipine and bendrofluromethozide ??? we’re not working properly.

Amlodipine causes swelling of feet and legs in some people thanx

I tried furosemide but it gave me headaches; then amlodipine but that gave me swollen ankles and feet, so I went on to Lercanidipine 10mg. That worked to reduce my BP without bad side effects. I’ve just had that increased to 20mg as BP has gone up, so I’m hoping there won’t be any bad side effects to outweigh the good!

Thank you keep me updated. Lercanidipine is also a calcium channel blocker but may have less of a edema side effect. Thinking of switching
