Clonidine and high blood pressure

Has anyone used Clonidine for high blood pressure control

I have not took ot yet but think that name drug I getting prescribed wed for my Hyperadrenergic dysautonomia pots I get high bp on standing like 200 plus

I was prescribed Clonidine a few years ago. I’m no longer on it. I know that it lowers blood pressure quickly but if you discontinue it for some reason, you have to wean off it slowly. I had higher spikes in BP while I tried to discontinue it. It took several weeks for me to finally be off it. I recently had some higher than usual BP readings & was in hospital. A different doctor prescribed Clonidine in case of excessively high blood pressure to bring it down more quickly. I did not end up having to take it. I do have it in case needed, but have not taken it. I prefer not to have to take it on a regular basis and go through the weaning off procedure again though.
