I had my LVRS op at Harefirld on wed 5ept, all went well and I woke uo with drans

coming out of my bzck and loads of drips, I was down in theatre from 08-00

untl 14-00 and went into the high dependantcy ward, at 17-00 they where not

happy with my breathng so was puton bi pap machine for 5hrs. Since then

progress han been good, the have now taken out one of the chest drains and the

epidural. I am now 3litres of O2 through my nose and Morhine through a pump

with a push button control.

I lm well enough now to go on to the Genaral ward as soon as a bed is ready.

It is difficult to move about with drains and o2 but I am starting to feel better

already.

Good to hear you are doing so well Perce. Keep on getting better and may the surgery prove to be a great success short and long term.

Keep on doing all that you need to for a good recovery.

All good wishes

Congrats Perce, you should be so proud.

Take it easy and rest (not that your gonna run a marathon rite now eh?!) and recover. If you are stuck for things to do, there are a few suggestions in the questions section that either puff or dragon asked!

Oh dear perce short sighted as well! Lol :)

Hi Pearce. pleased to hear you are doing well, and I would like to hear what was the op like?

Was it keyhole surgery? I do rember I read in the newspaper earlier this year about the lady who had a bell fitted, it was called Me and my operation, the tiny bell that breathes life back into your lungs,

Let us all know how you are getting on, wish you well.

Hi Perce my brother is waiting for the results of his Ct scan to see if he is accepted for this operation you sound so positive and are the only person I know who has actually gone through this. Very brave and keep up the good spirits proves there is always hope for the courageous.

I hope this turns out to be the best thing you've ever done. Imagine not needing to inhale more oxygen than you really need every day.

Have you got an idea of the recovery period i.e. when will you get home etc. or is there no

specified time. Are you on any treatment meantime and have you got your normal appetite back. This is really exciting and you seem, as far as I can see, to be one of the very few in the UK to have this operation carried out so take your time and don't try to break any records walking wise. (Not yet anyway).

recovery time is 8-12 weeks and there is a chance i may be fit

enough by Friday if all things are stable, not got much apitite

back and i feel really bloated.

Great if you get home for the weekend maybe your apetite will come

back you'll have your wife's cooking and no restrictions on when to

eat. drink etc. I wish you well Perce hope you'll come back and post

sometime in the future or whenever you are up to it. All the Best.

They let me go home this afternoon so am now nicely tucked up in bed sorting out the huge pile of meds for the next two weeks. Got to get into a rytham with what to take and at what times, that can start tomorrow as I am apsolutly worn out. Thanks for all your nice comments, they did cheer me up at times, fire away if you have any questions.
