Playing Dead by Midge 🐢

Some advice to my doggy friends

That I'm pleased to have on here

I know you all have owners

Who hold you very dear

But just the same there's many times

When attention is sadly lacking

And you feel you need some way

To give them an emotional whacking

Playing dead is what it's called

It always gets them going

You just lie down there very still

Till you hear them oh'ing and woeing

Then jump up and wag your tail

And look all full of vim

Unless of course they don't care much

And stick you in the bin

Morning Don & Midge, That was a Lovely Poem, Know why you wrote it, Our Little ones can be so Crafty, Princess doesn't come on my Knee any More, She senses something is not right.(No, I don't smell). She Lolls all over her Dad Belly up, or does roll overs for her favourite Chicken Chews. Midge is more Crafty , Knows how to get your Attention. have a Good Day, stay safe both of you. XXX C.

My old dog just gets smarter and smarter. Yesterday I was trying to get some work done at my desk (I use a spare back bedroom as an office) and she came up and started pawing me. I got a bit annoyed telling her to push-off but she persisted. Shortly after I sniffed food cooking which reminded me that I'd put some chicken legs in the oven which were approaching the over-done stage. If I'd understood what she was trying tell me they would have been just right, πŸ™„

Clever Girl Midge. They do have a foresight we can't always see. Like, saving you from Disaster. XXX C.

I think in that case it was her nose telling her. πŸ˜€

A friend of mine had an elderly dog that would frequently be apparently dead but made miraculous recovries when cheese was present πŸ§€

I looked after a Yorkshire Terrier that revived with banana.

That's an unusual choice 🍌 I don't know if Midge would be too impressed with bananas πŸ€”

Lots of love xxxπŸ₯°πŸ˜‚πŸ˜˜πŸ’–

Nah! She over-does it now with that fake rigor mortis. She's not smart enough to know how long it takes for that to set in. 🀣😘x

Good morning Mr.D and no surprises to read yet another clever rhyme. I see you've captured Midge in her "playing dead position" and how elegant does she look. Our HazelπŸ• I'm affraid, lets the doggie side down. She.lies perfectly still hardly spotting her breathing at all. Unbelievable how she can do it for several mins ....... as she'll lie on her back and all four legs going floppy and her bottom lip opens enough to see her little white teeth at the front(not the fangs or big teeth). Honestly.its quite alarming when you see her in "pretend dead pose"for the first few times. I will endeavour to get a good photo and show you. At least your lovely girl🐢 Midge, has some manners and syrikes a decent pose without everything on display if you get my drift.

Hope you've been well and like the rest of us just waiting for our isolation to end. Take care x 🐿 🌈 πŸ’•

I'm looking forward to that photo of Hazel, they do get in some amusing poses. This isolating business is getting me down. I preparing to start having short runs out in my self-isolated motorhome/campervan. It's totally self-contained with the doors and windows locked. I have an emergency number to phone to be rescued if necessary.

I'm with you there Mr.D and a very good morning to you πŸ˜€.

If i had a motorhome like yours and 3 women who are itching to accompany you on a self contained journey to boost one's moral and general wellbeing .......... well, you sure wouldnt stop me. Honestly. Especially since its rumoured that we possibly will get a relax on our lockdown etc, then it doesn't seem like there's been a better time than now.πŸ‘

If you are feeling well in yourself and ensure you tell a family member or friend your itinerary, take lots of fluids, mobile phone, supplies oh you know the drill. Be safe. Be sure and be off with you and enjoy. Obviously we expect photos for proof. Bon voyage!!πŸš™πŸŒž. Makes it sound like you are going to another part of the world eh? Dont forget to come back though will you??πŸ˜·πŸŒˆπŸΏπŸ’•

I'll see what the new rules are next week. The trouble is rules are drawn up on the premise that 'one size fits all' and few people will have the facilities I have to keep myself isolated but moblie.

Aww πŸ˜‚that little leg held up in the air

in reply to watergazer

She's a right drama queen isn't she. This keeping isolated is getting to her as well as me. I let her out to greet people who have left things on the step for me and give her a quick wipe round when she comes back in, but I think that confuses her even more.

It’s hard for the dogs to understand. Next doors dog came into our garden and looked at me as if to say where are my cuddles you usually give me. X

in reply to watergazer

The whole of a dogs life is made up of such events, it must be very confusing for them.

Love the stiff legged approach Midge

Her best friend is a butcher. She's seen them with their front legs tied ready for hanging on the meat hook.
