I’m a 25 y/o male who previously ran 5 days a week 3.5 miles a day, and all of a sudden starting having severe trouble breathing and chest pain, feeling like I got punched in the chest. Went to the ED a few times, got worked up for pulmonary embolism but was negative. Got MRI/CT/X ray and they found nothing. It’s really frustrating as it comes and goes and some days are better than others, and I lost weight because when I eat I almost choke because I’m breathing through my mouth. So far I saw my PCP, ENT and pulmonologist who didn’t see anything remarkable. I was diagnosed with a minor hiatal hernia but they think this isn’t what’s causing it. Should I try to see a cardiologist or GI doc? I just want my life back it’s so frustrating. I’m supposed to be taking a 15 hr flight with my fiancé and I thought I would be fine by now but I’m scared to go now.

I can give no help re diagnosis, but if you take the flight, and need travel insurance, and tell the truth, your premium will be enormous, some airlines would be loth to take you. if you do not tell them then will be in a right mess if something does go wrong. Do not know which country you live in/travelling to, but in some you would financially break yourself if you risk the travel without knowing what is what.
