Update on chest infections saga

Hey all. Hope you had a lovely Christmas and feeling as well as can be.

This is a little update of my ongoing saga with chest infections. I am, yet again, back on ab’s fir the same infection I hace had all month, probs longer. I had bloood tests done and they called me before 8 in the morning to tell me to start taking the ab’s again as the infection hadn’t gone. They also said my red blood cells were pretty naff and I have another blood test tomorrow for iron and and a repeat of the others. Just been so exhausted and unwell of late. Yesterday I was very bad and spent most of it in bed. Cough is still rough and I haven’t had the energy to do anything, not even shower. So fed up with being ill! They think my iron levels may have something to do with it so I suspect I’ll be back on iron tablets for a while. Seems I can’t keep enough of it in my system despite not being veggie.

Not yet had a chance to catch up with my consultant. Hoping to do so in the new year.

Oh dear. Hope the blood test gives you the answers so that the doctors can treat you effectively. All the best for today and the new year.

Oh sorry to hear you are so unwell. I am sure everyone who posts here will agree that this is the worst time of year to feeel under the weather.

I hope they find an answer for you soon that will enable you to get back to better health.

Good wishes for that for you in the New Year.

Hello ladytelita . 😊

I am so sorry to read you aren't well. Feeling rotten all the time to the point of finding every day activities nigh impossible is just awful. I wonder if, with your health being the way it is, you are entitled to any support, like a carer? I have a lady come help me clean once a week and that's such a Godsend. I hope you feel a bit better soon. Please keep us posted if you'd like. Take good care of yourself.

Sending gentle hugs,

Cas xx 🌿🌷🌿

Thank you all for your kind replies. Blood test done this morning. At least this one didn’t blow part way through and cause pain in my hand for most of the day!

I am entitled to help but they think I have plenty of funds to pay for it, which I don’t. I used to be covered but since my daughter started uni they took the funding away despite my income dropping considerably at the same time. I live on PIP and Income Support as it is. It’s enough to live on but not when extra expense is added. So I will continue to struggle. Haven’t done housework in weeks and had my first shower in two weeks yesterday. Just not had the energy. I’m also still my sons carer whom also receives PIP. He gets high rate everything indefinitely as he is incapable of working or even communicating with most people. He helps with finance but the house costs a lot to run. Water is on a small system here so costs way more than normal. The electric is very high as the house is running old night storage heaters and the company I rent from won’t reply to my requests for a new, updated system. We have plugin heaters upstairs so I never use mine.

Sorry I started ranting. Just feeling a little hard done by, lol. I’m sure it’ll pass once I start to feel better. Hopefully the results will enlighten us as to the issue and get it treated asap.

Happy new year all.

Hi ask carers trust or carers UK to give you a carers assessment, you should be able to get a direct payment as a carer which doesn't affect your pip etc
