Now four years since I had this antibiotic and still the tendons in my feet and legs are burning particularly at night. Anyone else had this problem? I have bronchial asthma but recently diagnosed with bronchiectasis and wonder if ciprofloxacin had anything to do with that

Ciprofloxacin
Cipro is an antibiotic which is used to combat pseudomonas when it colonises the lungs. I have had bronch for 65 years and been colonised with pseudomonas since 1986. I have had lots of courses of cipro. It will not give you bronchiectasis but does lose its affectiveness against pseudo over time in certain patients. Also, it can cause tendon problems but I have been lucky enough not to have that.
My body doesn't like that antibiotic, I don't ever want to have to take it again. However I am not getting the symptoms you describe.
If you are still taking this antibiotic I would chat with your doctor about the symptoms you are getting in your legs and feet, in fact chat with your doctor any way about these symptoms.
Hope you can get some improvement on what you are experiencing.
Best wishes Bkin
I have similar issues having taken ciprofloxacin for a pseudomonas infection several years ago, it is a recognised side effect and if you do a search on here you'll find a lot of people have experienced it.
I'm okay if I dont walk too much or sit down without my legs raised.
It is very frustrating as it stops me doing other things like badminton and jogging
When my tendons/legs are sore I massage them with an iboprofen type gel which seems to help.
The diagnosis I received was achilles tendonitis by the way.
I wish you all the best and sympathise with your condition
I wish I had read the web sites on this drug before I took it.
There is very little good spoken about it, but that doesn’t help I know.
I have requested my notes at the surgery be marked I am never to be given it again. I can honestly say it was the 2 worst weeks of my life ever.
Sorry to sound negative as I don’t know if it has the effect you state but it would not surprise me.
