Productive coughing.

Coughing is so common here

As anyone can see.

Along with huff and puffing.

And that will always be.

The one that is least mentioned

Or how it appears to me

Seems to be the huffing

Most important of the three.

Cos when it comes to coughing

In an unproductive way,

It costs a lot of energy

A bill you have to pay.

The phlegm you want to get out

Is not lined up to shift.

So all the coughing that you do,

Will never make it lift.

It's like trying to fire a rifle

When bullets aren't loaded there.

The huffing puts it into place

To launch it in the air.

So learn abut that huffing.

There's lots to read on here.

Then enjoy that lovely feeling,

When your cough makes phlegm appear.

Wise words again Don. I discovered huffing when I was too weak to cough and had pulled rib muscles from it. Now I'm a huff-aholic😆. Beautifully written again 😊 x

The poem is brilliant, thank you. If someone does not know what huffing is and types huffing into Google they get something quite different, and a bit alarming!! I know huffing as Active Cycle of Breathing Technique, which was taught to me by a physiotherapist, but there are lots of videos on YouTube. It completely changed my life as before I knew about it I had to sleep sitting up!
