Dry nose Brochiectasis

Does anyone suffer from dry nasel passages with bronchiectasis I'm seeing gp tomorrow so I can mention it again I had checked before and he said their alot of older people suffering pollen.

Some of the inhalers cause this I think. I find for me its worse in the winter months when central heating is on. You can get a humidity monitor on Amazon that will tell you if the air is too dry if below 50% you may want to humdify the living space. I note with all the heat we have been having even thought muggy my humidity in the living room is on 52% during winter months I would usually humidify the room when it get this low.

Thanks I'm not on any inhalers yet just on some med amtriptyline which I think is causing the dry nose but thanks Bkin

I don't see a lung consultant till September gp won't give me anything till I see consultant I'm scared stiff anxiety is over the top at the moment MS nursd has just changed my pain medication

Oh dear Lina-61 your GP could have helped you with the anxiety, could be your existing medication is causing that. Give the BLF helpline a call for further suggestions and advice on your overall situation. Although keep in mind the help line is mainly for lung related queries and advice.

Just not getting anywhere with my gp just wants to dope me up and I have not grieve for my mum need a good cry

Amitriptyline makes mouth and throat very dry.

I take 50mg at night as a migraine preventative and it works really well. Also helps sleep!

Also have prescription for Salivix pastels to increase saliva in mouth and throat. Dear to purchase @ £5 per box. On prescription get 4 boxes each month.

Cost the NHS a fortune with 4 pages of repeat prescriptions but guess that's what l paid in for....

Hi Lina-61, I don’t know of a link between Bronchiectasis and dry membranes but I do know that amitriptyline can have side effects like this. I took it for about a year, many years ago, and I’ve suffered from dry nose (and eyes) ever since. It’s got worse since I was diagnosed with copd last year and the only thing that seems to help is using a saline nasal spray and eye drops several times a day!

Thanks UHelga I thought amtriptyline might be the cause My MS nurse has changed this med to another one so will see how I get on
