Went out for a meal yesterday ......

And felt horrendous afterwards, took my Omeprazole 20 mins before the meal and then rennie afterwards. Didn't have any alcohol I drove so just had apple juice and water, didn't have any dessert. And still felt terribly sick after, very out of breath and so tired I left quickly and went home to put my feet up.

This Christmas is not going to be a fulfilled food and prosecco one, but a watching everything I eat and mainly having warm water and camomile tea!

Hoping that next year will be better and that I can have my op in first quarter to sort this hideous problem as I would so love to enjoy a meal out with my fiends again.

I am on the same tablets. Under the impression that you don't take any other products like Rennes, gaviscon etc until at least 2 hours have elapsed. Hope things settle soon for you.

I had that once when I had a very high salt smoked salmon and anchovy starter with friends at a recommended eatery - because I'm on various potassium-losing meds, I overdosed on sodium which is in salt, and ended up drinking gallons of water, being sick and getting the runs. I was right as rain again next day.

Hope you feel better soon and that you don't have to wait too long for that operation x

Hi Shancock and I'm with you on the meds before and after any meals.....such a real pain in the behind!! I'm hoping I dont end up spending more time in the loo than around the Christmas tree!!!! Joking aside, we have to watch what we eat at a time when most folk can just go "crazy".

Wishing you and your family a Merry Christmas!

I have similar problems which give rise to a reflux action. My GP put me on Pantoprazole gastro resistant tablets. Much of this I put down to an Hiatus hernier that I didn't realise I had. Apple juice was probably not the best thing to have due acidity, water on it's own would have been fine in small sips & quantity. You are right to keep off the wines/spirits they would send the system mad.

Hope the operation helps to sort it out for you. Looks like a spartan Christmas for us both.

I used to love mince pies and cream and a glass of Sherry! I hope next year I can indulge, this year it's going to be more of a basic one but I will definitely have a prosecco and a touch of Xmas pudding, it is Xmas after all!

I am very careful what I eat, I wouldn't go out for a meal because I don't know what is in it. Christmas dinner might cause issues, literally, no meat and limiting the roast proportion should help.

What operation are you due? I had a stricture which caused various woes, three endoscopes seem to have sorted that.
