Have you sucked on these ???

Good morning deep breathers -Sorry I haven't been on for a while I've been too busy fighting one issue or another!

My wife brought a packet of Mucus cough pastilles from the chemists the other day to try and ease some of my symptoms........I've tried several types to no avail, but for me these give some relief, so I thought I would share them (not literally you will have to buy your own :D).

Your all probably saying, we've been using them for ages ?? I'm not always the first slug to the lettuce ?? But thought I'd share (cos I'm kind that way :D ) They are menthol and do taste Medicinal but I don't mind medicines (told you before I'm odd ? )

Hope this brings some comfort to at least one person (even if it's just the one person that is watching the taster screw their face up if they don't like it LOL)

On a more serious note my compensation claim for asbestosis, which has taken 4 1/2 years up to now, has finally confirmed a court date of 18/19/ 20/ Dec - The defendandants offered me a derisory out of court settlement which won't even cover the loss of earnings to date. So I've told them I'm not messing and although I was willing to concede some compensation significantly to avoid court, I have now decided to try and take them to the cleaners due to their insulting offer and lack of empathy. So fingers crossed .

All I need to do between now and then is stay healthy(ish) and try not to die before the trial as me oxygen levels are regularly in the mid 60% and climb to mid 80% when passive

Hope your all staying as well as you can and not letting the cold get to you

Take Care

Thanx for that, I shall certainly give them a try, I use a flutter device I don’t know if you have heard about them, I got mine by prescription after months of coughing but not enough phlegm released, I know u can now buy them from amazon but my rehab nurse at hospital recommended the flutter and honestly it works I just wish I had known years ago. I agree with you about your claim you go for all you can as the company will sure forget about you in future when you are still physically struggling, I wish you well I also wish for you a good result at court and, enough money to really take a lot of stress away

Take care

Thanx for sharing info x

Yeah I have a flutterer, initially I felt the benefit, but blowing it depletes my oxygen that much I had to stop using it . I'm only transferring less than 30% of what my body requires now so really struggle at times just getting around the house , and we don't live in a mansion LOL

I would up the ante and press for punitive damages, for the extra stress over their derisory offer as well. Best of luck with the case, you have waited for long enough.

What shocked me Newlands is, if I win my case all the money I received from the DWP Benefits and PIP has to be paid back to the government first, before I see any and the claim, this also includes all my sickness pay. My wife had to stop her job to look after me so she dropped from a healthy salary to £62 /week but we can't claim fro her loss of earnings because the government financed her post annually and now say it wasn't a permanent job, when there was and still is a shortage of staff looking after vulnerable children..... .Makes my blood boil ?- it would cost the government a lot more if I had to go into a hospice !!!!!

Rant Over

Newlands your comment brought a big grin to my face because initially I (for a split second) thought you were talking about the cough sweets 😨😨 then realised you were talking about court case 😂😂😂😂 thank you for the chuckle

Stay well and keep sucking it in ?

That’s so unfair Owen. I wouldn’t have believed it!

I really do hope you get the payout you deserve from your claim.

Owen you rant as much as you want to, the Gov will rip you off when they can, it disgusts me the lengths they will go to.

Are you still in a Union, they have provided me with sound advice. I don't see how they can claim back your sick pay.

The Gov certainly don't care about "Joe public"

I hope you have a good Christmas as stress free as possible,

Take care.

Steve.

Wellanners totally agree with you and was shocked as to what they are eligible to claim back !!

I have a life long union membership and without them I couldn't have afforded the legal costs (it cost £10k just to submit case to Royal Courts of Justice !!!

Unfortunately employers can claim the sickness pay back !!!

It's give me new vigor to fight on and I think they are hoping I kick the bucket prior to the court case ?

Stay well

Unfortunately if I win the government stop all my payments !!! Just cant win !!

Hi Plumbob. Good luck with your case. Really go for it. I hope you have a rottwieller lawer. It is disgusting how the defendants in so many cases have been allowed to drag it out in the cynical hope that the claimants will die before they have to pay out. I do think that this is another area where BLF should be shouting loudly and publicly but the silence is deafening.xxx

Hi plumbob good to see you and I will try some of them sweets.

This claim does seem to be going on but that's insurance company for you I think its disgusting they should be ashamed. Some years ago our local army depo went up in smoke the asbestos spread for miles I was at school at the time but were all sent home early. One of my friends who lived near the depo suffered with asbestosis she had a solicitor fighting for her and many others hope you get it sorted xx

I'm going to give them pastiles a go. I hope your court case goes well, definitely agree with you about taking them to the cleaners, if they'd taken responsibility earlier it would have been a different story.

Good luck and keep us posted x

I'll join the chorus wishing you every success. Keep us posted on the outcome.

But now to cough and mucous destroying sweets.

Try also Vocalzone. Available in chemists. I use them before trying to sing with our local choir. Doesn't make me sing any more in tune but keeps chest clear.

Also suggest joining a choir as brilliant therapy. Good for fun and breathing.

Best widhes

Thank you Tryfan

I will try the tablets

Unfortunately I am more or less house bound so I will have to kidnap any carol singers to sing in a group but I don't think they will enjoy my vocal tones 😌😌😌😌

Take care
