The parting.

I parted from some friends this week,

So am feeling rather sad.

The friction that rose between us,

Was getting really bad.

We had had numerous meals together,

Which at first went really well.

Exactly where it all went wrong

Is very hard to tell.

I thought about this for quite some time,

I didn’t want us to part.

But in the end I thought that I must

Put head ahead of heart.

So the friendship ended there,

As I knew it would.

And though I say this of myself

My new dentures look quite good. 😀

Great poetry Don me I could never get on with mine so have done without them since I was 40 I can eat most things and my speech is great so I often wonder the reason behind the darn things and can only come up with vanity?.

I really thought it WAS a good friend (until the end!). ....

and it really rang true with me,

as exactly the same thing has recently happened in our household .... a regular dinner-guest we’ve had once a week for 8 years has become so strange that we’ve had to ‘call it a day’ 😫😀.

So i’m taking the poem literally until the last line....

and I take it that Don needed new teeth because his (ex) friend punched him in the face‼️‼️‼️
