Unwanted pet

I am laying in bed looking around the room nervously. Last night i saw a large black hairy spider running around the wall. It went behind the radiator and i have not seen it since. I think if i switch the light off it will come out. So i am laying here not able to settle. Light on light off. What to do.

I hate them too yuck!

There's a spider living in our bathroom that I haven't told my wife about,I will probably know when she finds it.😇

Your spider will do you no harm, it's as frightened of you as you are of it. I have several very large spiders in my little workshop and we have co-existed for many years. They keep the flies and other insects down and without spiders, mankind couldn't exist on this little planet, we would be overrun.

I regularly spray my rooms with a diluted solution of lemon oil with water.spiders hate it.

But it won't hurt them, they just keep away😊

I never kill a spider.🕷

I hate flies more.

Try it!

I keep conkers around my house, they are said to deter spiders, fingers crossed. Easy for me I have a chestnut tree in the garden. I am almost afraid to look around the walls at bedtime as like you I wouldn't rest if I saw one.

me to! my husbands idea so i now have to explain why there is conkers in every room but it works but my grandsons not to happy when he finds his Pappi has raided his conker haul ha ha

I hope you break open the conkers first as it's the chesnut oil inside they hate. They won't work otherside.

Never had a problem with spiders & when we lived in Cyprus we had tiny little lizards which were known as chitchats which came in the house, usually at night. They would be on the ceiling & were almost diaphanous so you could see the flies in their tummy. We had one that seemed to have taken over the toilet in particular ( not in it - on the ceiling, but occasionally he would be in the inner tube of the toilet roll & scurry out when you pulled on the paper. ) He was so tame we called him Fred !!!!! My thing is worms / slugs etc - anything slimy -urgh - gross !!!!!!!

Lizards eat spiders. I remember being in Greece where there are loads of lizards and they told me that. Never saw any.

When you finally find your 8 legged friend, persuade him to accept a collar and leash and the two of you can begin taking walks around the neighborhood; that should accomplish a couple of things: first, it'll give you some (probably) much needed exercise, and second, it'll help tire out your little arachnid amigo so the little darling will sleep nights and not cause you worry.

Problem solved.....

My advice - talk to him, explain you do not like him near you and that you know it is silly as he cannot harm you but you could easily harm him, politely ask him not to come near you and promise you will not intentionally go near him nor harm him - works for me (with all insects) admittedly quite mad but hey ho that's me .......
