Just getting my head around having copd, now had x rays and blood tests as I've got arthritis in my hands. More results to wait for. Sat feeling miserable, but managed to drag myself out for a short walk. So glad I did ! x

Thank you. I gave up smoking over a year ago, so it was a shock to be diagnosed with copd. I still work part time and also babysit grandchildren. No one has mentioned PR to me yet, have checked online and it would be 120 mile trip each time if I was to be referred for it. x

What???? 120 miles surely there must be something closer to you ....go on you tube and find exercise breathing on there ..glad you stopped smoking though xxxx

It's a beautiful exercise to do lol I could easy fall asleep standing up the last 10 mins as our sensai dave does a relaxing story to end the class while we just slouch and listen ...then he bangs a gong ...hate that bit lolxx

My uncle who never smoked passed away from it he was in in seventies he had COPD., while my other uncle was dying at Christmas time he was eighty passed away shortly after . A friend of mine her family members baby was two weeks old fighting for its life while my uncle was passing away the baby died... I knew lots of people that past away way before there time. For me anything after the age of sixty youve been lucky...When I found out I thought I just had a few years I cried and put it into prespective. I'm glad I came to this sight people live a lot longer than what the sites say coming out of the US sites on COPD MY uncle live a long time with it.. I don't know how old you are but you still have a while yet Enjoy your life don't let this COPD ruin what time you do have. Eat well take up a new hobbie. enjoy family friends go out see movies go on vacations plan for those things. That is what I"m doing got back from Portugal little rough at times ended up in ER but in the end I got to sit on a rock over looking the ocean in Lagos having lunch feeling so happy .. Pull up your boots straps and face this but live your life.. That is what I"m doing been lucky to make this far in life........

Exactly what you should have done Chris. We just have to keep pushing against this horrible disease. Never give up. Beautiful walk by the way.

PS - ask your GP about pulmonary rehab { there should be one nearer to you than 120 mile round trip}. Good luck x

I was diagnosed with copd 4 years ago (early stage)so I'm not ill enough for meds,in January though I got a virus which led to bronchitis and since then I've noticed I'm getting breathless easier.Virus also left me with labyrinthitis ,not nice.On top of this I have arthritis in my spine which is affecting my legs making walking uncomfortable.I also have coeliac disease (a bit of a pain)but hey I'm still living.I have been on the sick though for about 10 weeks.(I'm a postman)and I don't know when I'll get back to work.Cheer up , keep focused and take life by the b@lls.
