ok....i had the full face and struggled with them so now use the nasal ones so just be aware there are a few different ones to use if you have any problems

My husband has one and hated it for a fortnight and now looks forward to putting it on so that he gets uninterrupted sleep. His sleep apnoea had him waking so many times each night that he got up exhausted but now he feels much better. Once you get used to it I hope you find it as useful as he did.

june 24 HI miss sleep apnea i have had mine for abut 5 years I have just tried a new machine out its a phillips and I have a medium size mask it does help because i was having 52 apneas an hour since I tried the new machine and mask I have about 2 or 3 I feel I'm having deeper sleep which is good for me as I have progressive supper nuclear palsy as well do i not expect you have heard of it\\ that s ok not many people have \\ where i live there is only about 1500 of us so its pretty rare in the uk where y ou live I take it ,there are about 4000 by the way I live in Australia mate

as long as you put the mask on right you are home and hosed matey just so there are no leaks around then edges and the air is going in the right place mate you will be fine you can always contact your sleep bloke if you are not sure of anything matey

Hi June

I have a NIPPY machines too. I was given mine because I have severe COPD and am a borderline CO2 retainer. Also suffer with insomnia. Like you when first given one I was scared but the staff at Harefield explained how to use it etc. I have a nasal mask not the full face mask so it is easier to wear. I was also prescribed Lorazepam to help me sleep, because even wearing the mas I still wasn't sleeping. Also prescribed sleeping pills which I take now and again. I feel much more alert during the day. Once you get used to the machine, you should start to feel better.

Let me know how it goes.

Take care

Malinka

Don't be frightened! Like most of us, you will probably look forward to using CPAP every night because it is very relaxing. The trick is to get the right mask that doesn't leak, make rude noises or blow into your eyes.

VERY IMPORTANT : I hope the clinic told you that once diagnosed with Sleep Apnoea, you MUST NOT DRIVE until the clinic say so. My nurse didn't tell me, so effectively I was driving without a valid Driving License and therefore no insurance. Fortunately it was only a few days! If you go to the DVLA site, you can fill in the declaration there once you are deemed fit to drive again.
