Does anyone take ibprofen for inflammation due to chronic bronchitis . I have copd and asthma. Now I developed bronchitis. I started taking musenex, and now I'm wondering if ibprofen might be helpful since it is a inflammatory condition.

Thanks for any input

Hi Batbara, sorry to hear you're not too good at the moment.

Personally I can't take ibuprofen as it makes me more sob. I stick to paracetamol, it works fine for me.

Take care 🌺

Do not take Ibrufen (exc spelling) unless you are prepared for the consequences. I would love to take it to take pain away. All I can say when I had a camera down my throat = the young doctor told me most people suffering upper gastric problems (ulcers etc.) were there because they had taken Ibrufen = quick fix but you could end up with more problems. At least discuss with your GP or pharmacist. K

Hi I was told the same. Mind you I have taken it before with no problems but I put this down to being only mild. It does say on the packet though not to take it if you are asthamatic. x

Hi batbara

I take ibuprofen, with no problems.

Paracetamol does nothing for me. When I'm in pain, ibuprofen works great. Don't know about the breathing problem with it. Maybe someone will put a link about it.😊

Thanks for all the comments. I didn't know ibprofen was bad for asthma, so I won't take it. This really is a very long helpful site.

Thanks again, barbara

Hi, it seems some people can take it even though the instructions say not to.

I wouldn't risk it for lung issues but also because they would wreck my stomach completely

Corticosteroids inhaled are used for the lung inflammation.

Hello Batbara,

I've always been told that people with lung "conditions" should never take Ibuprofen. My Daughter is a senior staff nurse in ITU and says that's why they ask patients if they have any lung problems before giving then pain killers. Not a good idea I think? XX

Eeeeek!!!! If you're on lots of pills and inhalers for COPD, you probably ought not to be taking ibuprofen because it has lots and lots of medical contra-indicators. See your GP or respiratory nurse!!

Aspirin is a non steroidal anti inflammatory, too. Do your research & have a chat with your doctor. Remember tho', Drs are told to always say 'no' if there is even the slightest risk, because of potential litigation.

I had a duodenal stomach ulcer about twenty years ago and was told then that I should stay away from Aspirin and Ibuprofen. That advice also referred to skin creams. Have done so ever since and kept to Paracetamol.

The post is about getting anti inflammatory benefit, and aspirin wont suit everybody.. which is why I said do your research and talk to your doctor.

Inhaled corticosteroids is probably the best.. but don't suit everyone either.

Paracetamol is an analgesic - has no anti inflammatory properties.
