I have been having lots of trouble getting the mucus up, then I remembered my flutter that I used a few years ago. I got it out gave it a good wash but I can't get a peep out of it I don't have enough puff to make it work, so back to the drawing board.

Try using a large milk bottle with two straws taped together to make it long and put water up to half way in bottle cover top opening and blow like mad to make bubbles, then huff and that really really helps helps me I should say :) Good luck :)

I have never been any good at blowing balloons, but the Clinic showed me the milk bottle and blowing bubbles...you can keep doing it and huffing in between if you want. The straw would make it easier than blowing a balloon, but that's just my opinion. Have a go! :)

Hi, I wen through hell with mucus problems. I had a flutter, but was warned to used it carefully as I had a collapsed lung some years ago, and it seems there's a risk for patients who have had this condition.

My answer was to take two 600mg doses of n acetylcysteine daily. Mucus - Gone!

Have a look at my post here healthunlocked.com/blf/post...

It will explain everything.

Best of luck to you!

kind wishes

don't blow balloons up, it can cause pressure build up in lung and can cause it to collapse in some people, Ask Dr for an acappella mucus clearing device on prescription. They likely wont have given one before, mine hadn't, but you can get it. Lloyds chemist ordered it in for me. They can be used in any position and are adjustable for the pressure needed to breathe, so you will probably be able to do that.

Also you may find the following video helpful to improve breathing, its a physio I think, with "helpers" working through seated exercises designed to help with breathing.
