exaberation

i can feel myself heading towards an exaberation , i stopped takinig a 5 week course of prednisolone in early dec ember, now i am going to try taking my nebuliser 3/4 times a day to see if that will keep me off the steroids, has any one tried this?

My husband has tried it and sometimes it does work - so the best of luck. But just a word of warning - if you think it isn't improving go to the doctor. We have found that waiting sometimes doesn't help and it is better to start with abs and steroids. You will know if it is working. Really hope that you are able to keep it at bay. Take care, TAD xxx

I use nebulizer,no anti b or steroids. And good inhalors.dont smoke. No infections.i don't understand all that steroid stuff ,relax and enjoy life.neb once a day if that,I stay in and keep warm and stress free .

It could depend what you put in the nebuliser - the nebuliser is only a delivery method which works for some but not for everyone. Presumably you are on a preventative inhaler with steroids in it?

Aside from the nebuliser, loads of rest, gentle exercise, and lots of fluids.

But you must have been quite sick if you were prescribed a 5 week course, so apart from self management, i would definitely talk to your GP now before the thing comes on.

I have been far healthier with lesser exacerbations and less pred since i stopped hoping they would get better without needing to take pred. And my GP is crucial in helping me understand what works best - we have a good partnership.

i`m on ventolin, seretide 500 , atrovent, alcidinum bromide , uniphyllin ,carbocistene ,with that lot you would think i wouldn`t need anything else : the nebuliser has2.5mg ventolin nebules

Hi Whit,

I tend to agree with Colours on this subject.Everyone is always taking steroids and antibiotics. How can they help you when you need them. Your body has developed a resistance to them if People without infections take Them.I'm from usa and they will not give you antibiotics if you don't have an infection. RUBYXX
