Went Docs Today (1) Memory Problems (2) Er Er ....

Just Remeberd (2) allways cold ANYWAY had a chat about problems i have had and all ways being cold.

Dont get me wrong but on scale of things a would prefer not to talk anout Cognative or Brain Fog Problems a seem to have developed with my illness since my time on BLF Health Unlocked site.

Like its not to bad as a seem to forget stuff now .. is it a conveniance thing or is it a lung function oxygen thing.

Like we have talked about our skin is a organ and needs oxygen perfusion ... is it harder to walk and talk etc or even think and talk a think it is ... and is bigger picture of lung diease one thinks.

Anyway yep me and my Doc have decided to do blood test to see why am cold all the time and have what seem to be short term memory problems given finding at my pip assessment.

Given my problems i.e Hyperventalation n Bronchitiasis emphysem n emphysematious bullea and hypersenativaty i.e heart blood presure problems ... Infections or is it chronic lung sepsis.

Is it reasonable to expect i would develope hypothyroidism caused by my problems and lung diease or is it strees

Hi, suffer the brain fog stuff myself, and 'of all the things I have lost, I miss my mind the most'. That's a fridge magnet that reminds me when frustration gets too much. I've only half a thyroid gland but most of the time it holds its own and maintains levels. Doc just repeats blood tests if I mention cold and memory probs, the levels ok he's blaming oxygen levels.... Some days better than others so he could be right. Sigh. one day at a time, today could be a good one. .

Hi hazal 101 yer you sumed up what i was thinking ... a just hope its not my lungs deteriorating tho.

I to have had few blood test and am sure my doc was not going to do out unless i insisted.

all inflamed and doing what it wants .

in reply to

thank you for the post, I,m dcs Monday if I can get in,know the cold all over ,you have to keep moving around the house, dont sit down and keep drinking hot drinks, exercise what you can,and rest when you can.xxx hope your sorted soon, and you get all your benefits, wishing you well daz and tomorrow is another day for us,thay should know the idiots we need heat, eating ,transport with long term health issues, but thay don't have that worry, cushion comforted them snobs,

Hi Daz, Being cold all the time was the only sign I had that my thyroid wasn't working as it should. Once you get on (more) pills it sorts itself out although I am never as warm as my husband. It may be because he is rushing about doing things for me! Hope you get it sorted out. Regards Popplewell

in reply to

Hi cheers popplewell cheers thanks ... is being cold really dose my head in .. Cant seem to do out

popplewell, cling to husband to get warmer!

I used to get cold in 2010. My temperature was 35, but the nurse used to say not to take any notice of this!

I haven't got thyroid problem. When I get tired (8 pm) my energy level plummets and I get very cold. When I check my temperature, nothing unusual. I lost a lot of weight too. Recently for being ill with pneumonia and pseudomonas and C difficile!

Not easy when everybody else wants you to behave normally! I'm not normal at the moment!

in reply to helingmic

Hi helingmic, I do cling to husband but mostly just to walk about! You can cope with one big problem, even though you know it will see you off, but all the extra bits get you down. My arms are really sore today, they feel like they are sitting on sandpaper, and I have had thrush on my tongue for ages. Going to doctors on Tuesday so get stronger treatment, I hope. I can't seem to settle to anything today but the computer does pass time on and keeps you in touch. Hope your problems get sorted out a bit. I know there is no real help but we keep trying. Regards Popplewell

Hi popplewell, yes little ailments are niggling. I try to eat and I get stomach pain. I mentioned it to GP who sent me for and examination of guts dn stomach. The stomach, the consultant couldn't see the other side!!! For the guts, his tube was so painful, that I asked him to stop after 75% had been seen. Had a barium enema with nothing showing. so I've still got this pain in my stomach... for nothing! Hope your thrush is seen to, because this is horrible. do you take Nystan?

in reply to helingmic

Yes I have had Nystatin for months and last week the doctor gave me a 'one off' pill, which made me feel very strange, but hasn't done the trick. Tummy pain is bad too isn't it? I have had colitis for 40 years and had loads of colonoscopys but always with sedation. Did you not have sedation? Told the consultant I didn't want any more as the two days of 'preparation' are awful. She said she couldn't operate anyway, if I needed one, so no problem. Rather puts you off your food when you have pain doesn't it? Is it in one spot? Did they test for an ulcer? You really have to fight your own corner with the medical profession these days although I must say both my GP and consultant seem good although there doesn't seem to be any real treatment for IPF. Keep smiling, Popplewell

I couldn't have sedation because I have lack of white blood cells, asthma and COPD. "Oh we will have to do it without"! Yeah, well I felt It! They had to give me a barium enema in the end. I just wondered why they didn't start with this which is much less painful!

they couldn't see an ulcer. They saw a benign tumour which they didn't want to operate.

yes, I have a pain in the left corner. yes, I have to fight every bit of my corner. But eventually, the consultant bide their time for next time!

Pills and medication can make you feel strange. I had amoxycillin intravenous, even though I asked not to be given it. Result: I had a veil coming over my eyes, I could hardly see the nurse who spoke to me. I also had a "feeling" in my forehead, not a pain, but a sort of woolly feeling. The nurse took note and the Amoxycillin was taken off to be replaced by Tazocin which I did ask,

i datisnotsogood,, one of the more difficult posts to answer, and i would prefer to leave it to the medical profession,

after looking at the videos etc,, it seems a blood test is most important,,,, well, "datisnotsogood" on the positive side you have at least had that, maybe just wait on the result, the other positive thing is "catching things early" well you have done this, the other positive thing is it can be cured completely in some cases,,,,.these are just three of the positives.

as long as the doc is seeing you, that is the main thing,

one thing i will say though, trawling through the internet [as we all do] will not help, this will confuse and even convince yourself of added symptoms.

my advice is leave things to the medical profession, to sort things out.

meanwhile "datisnotsogood" i do hope things can be put right, and i do hope you get the proper medical attention, things can often seem worse than they really are, then we worry, and often that make things worse by this [we all do this, well i do anyway]

in answer to your last question,, my answer would be,,,,,,,,,,leave it to the medical profession, and try your best not to worry,

best of luck my friend, i hope and pray things will turn out ok.for you,

all the very best,,,jimmy

p.s if its of any consolation, i have been told myself to see a doc, due to short term memory problems,/brain fog/ forgetfulness, i now know i should do this, and now now know within myself they are right,,, so that will be my next move, its hard to talk of things like this but give you full credit for posting, talking about things openly, this in itself can often help.in some cases.

often medication can cause things like this, in my case, i think this could be true, but going back to my own advice,,,, the doctor is the one for this,, and its the doc, i will see..and quite often things are never as bad as they seem,,,,..kind regards jimmy

hi datisnotsogood, same as me, my old doc was useless, but the new one i have now,is really brilliant, in fact i would go as far to say, she saved my life!!,,,,, it makes a big difference having a good doc, who listens,,,, all the very best dazisnotsogood [could you not have got a shorter name lol:):) i can hardly spell my own name ha ha :),,, only kidding,,,,anyway, as you say, take things on merit,, you,ll get there my friend,, best regards,,jimmy:)

Just thought, dazisnotgood to remind you of breathing to bring the oxygen in your brain. ot might help diffuse the fog a bit. Here's a video for shortness of breath:

Hi I only have memory fog when I am getting an infection, it took my a while to realise this. Now when I'm feeling a bit foggy with thinking I check for a silent infection. Get a sputum test. Usually comes back positive once the AB's kick in I'm back to normal. My daughter alerted me to it first. Maybe others will find this a problem.

in reply to needtobreathe

Hi needtobreath yes same here to usually it was when i have infection .. but i dont seem to have chest infection .. am just hoping its not my lungs deteriorating .. few memory problems a can live with but i need my lungs more
