Hey everyone have you all heard about the new electronic prescription service

I think this will be easier for people because it means that we won't have to keep signing prescriptions for our meds anymore. But I don't know when this is beginning but soon. Also if you have heard of it then comment your opinions

Haven't heard of this Jake but would welcome it with open arms (or before my fingers all drop off!) It's great that the local chemist deliver the meds each month but each script has to be signed - have 3 at the moment.

If it the same one, it is called System Online.

You need a username and password from the medical centre,

Then you can order prescription , book appointments.

There is a I-Pad app.

Not tried it yet one for the future.

Hi Stone We have had this in our area for sometime now, it is a great service. We order on-line and the local pharmacy collect the prescription and prepare it ready for collection. They will also deliver if you wish them to. Appointment booking is also good as it is possible to book an appointment 6 weeks in advance.

Me too. But,as ever, have difficulty getting appointment with my fav gp! Think they only release a minimum number of e- appointments and when they are snapped up you have to take another GP. Needless to say all the senior GP's get snapped up first and the young, new doctors have lots of spaces!

I actually thought my GP had left the practice cause she never showed up online - then I found her - someone had cancelled.

Yes it can be a problem to see your regular GP as the times can be taken up quite quickly. If you login to system on-line at 8am in the morning you may be able to book a same day triage as they release more times for that day each morning. It saves ringing up and answering the questions asked by the receptionist. We used to be able to book appointments with the nurses but they have removed that facility for the time being.

Yes Stone I've tried it it's great, the receptionist at the Dr's give you a username and password, you wait one hour after getting home and then you can long on, you keep the username but change your password xx

We were told about this at our surgery quite a while ago, as I understand it where the surgery has modern technology your prescription will download automatically to the chemist as your GP prints it and will be ready when you arrive at the chemist, if you sign the form. We can already order on line if we fill in a form, so feel it is very much an individual surgery's choice as to how quick it happens. I can get a prescription in twenty four hours unless it is really urgent in which case a telephone consultation is the quickest. My chemist will deliver if ill or disabled once again if you register on their computer. So that's the way it is at my doctors and this is my comments as you requested in the post. Hope this helps

Hi Jake I do all my prescriptions on line ,I find it much better havnt had any cockups at all.I used to ring chemist direct to order so many mistakes and no one taking responsibility.So I would recommend it Janexx

I experienced it today! Went to doc on emergency appt this morning. My lovely GP was chuffed to bits when he said "your meds await you at the chemist mrs ......, oh fantastic, 2 seconds ands it's done"!

I'd also signed up a while ago for the electronic service, presumably I call the chemist when I want a repeat? Will try that soon.

LOL, I didn't know that's what it was called, but yes, I use it. I've had to stick my log in details onto the side of the computer though, because I'd never remember those details. At the click of a button, I can now make an appointment with the doctor of my choice, and not be fobbed off by a scowling receptionist!

The less I have to speak to anyone at my gp's re prescriptions the better, will find out if they are using the system. i.e. you only had the last one 3 weeks ago - yes, but by the time it arrives it will be four weeks. When will they get it! xxx

Yes Jake I use this service and it is very good EXCEPT when you want something that is not on repeat e.g. a new spacer....that request just gets ignored. Then I have to get in touch with Docs with defeats the whole point!

Would you not think that they could see in their records when I last received one!!

I have heard of the system but am very happy with my repeat set-up. I phone my local chemist who contacts surgery, collects signed prescription and delivers within a few days. Superb service!

Hi Jake,

I've been using this service from my GP for about 6 months and have had no problems so far,I only wish I could book appointments on line,I would recommend this service.
