Friday morning, I got the dig in the ribs, time to wake up call. It's 6 0'clock and time for the dreaded Alendronic Acid again. So OH goes downstairs to make tea and I go back to sleep. No pill that day.
Saturday morning, I got the dig in the ribs, time to wake up call. It's 6 0'clock and time for the dreaded Alendronic Acid again. So OH goes downstairs to make tea and I go back to sleep. No pill yesterday either.
Sunday morning, I got the dig in the ribs, time to wake up call. It's 6 0'clock and time for the dreaded Alendronic Acid again. So OH goes downstairs to make tea and I take it. Now to remain upright to allow it to get to stomach and in the stomach acid.
Feeling really proud of myself now, not only have I remembered to take it but also drank a full glass of water. I hate water to drink and now have to get up briefly. You don't really want to know why do you?
Now 6.45, I'm back in bed, really looking forward to tea and up it comes, closely followed by the shadows. Now this first cup of tea is also the meds taking cup of tea.
Lift mask off face to put the 5 little pills, in my egg cup, up to mouth, in they go, mouthful of tea and swallow. Mask back on and breathe.
Somewhere between swallow and breathe something went wrong and I ended up breathing tea with the pills still in mouth.
First thought swallow pills, cough, swallow, pills gone. Second though can't breathe, open mouth, still can't breath. Then thought went out the window and instinct took over. Coughed, then heaved a breath in and coughed again.
Soon everything back to normal.
But I keep thinking what if? If hubby hadn't been there. If I had panicked. Still no what if, a few brain cells went out so I am a little dozier but no damage done.
Be careful everyone, fragile lungs do not like swimming in tea, on the plus side it has cleared any mucus I did have!

Well I sincerely hope when they are dishing out accolades about how to get rid of mucus with tea, that you get the pile of money that is on offer LOL. It's a horrible experience inhaling liquid - been there, done it, survived and didn't print the tee shirt on that occasion xxx
Are you sure that you are ok cariad?? I know that as a dormouse you spend lots of time sleeping, but you really must try & focus on the important little functions of life, like takng tablets properly & on time!!! putting a straw through the mask, take one tablet at a time & DO NOT breath when swallowing liquid, lungs are allergic to liquid & they will slap you if you scare them!!
yes strangely enough they did. I didn't want to spit them out in case the dogs got them. Daft bat that I am, should have realised I had my mask on and that would have caught them!
Where's the fun in that, but I will try and only do one thing at a time. What was the song 'why can't a woman be more like a man?' But drinking and breathing is one multitask too far! - Dozy x
I do try but these things seem to happen to me. Can you keep a secret? I think these little accidents come looking for me to see how I do. Wonder what's next? - Dozy x
Little advice on swallowing: if you sit up straight and tuck your chin to your chest when you swallow it shuts off your air way so liquid or food cannot enter your lungs.
Hi Dozydoormouse. You had me smiling. You must be more careful. The way you were telling it was funny although I shouldn't think it funny really. It's quite scary when you think about it. X
Sorry for laughing, but it's the way you tell 'em. Please do be more careful Dozy, and well done you for being so calm when it happened. I'd have panicked, and I know it. x
Hi Dozy You are well named this time but you have to be more careful i could understand if it was Morgan s and Coke, I take mine with Guinness anything goes wrong I will go a happy man. Take care and big hugs.Matt/Fran
Take care Dozy especially with the tea drinking. Pete has sometimes choked on all his pills and it is not a pretty sight to see. I am glad to be with him as he would panic. Bless you. xxxx
I think panic is the worst thing you can do, but it is also the easiest. However our automatic reactions usually get us out of trouble. All's well that ends well Off for a nap now - Dozy x
That made me have an extra long nap to get over being awake for so long, but managed to get dinner on the go, watch Strictly and eat after it. Well you have to put the effort in for Strictly! - Dozy x
