Hi. I had cabg 3 years ago and was on Bisoprolol. I switched to Nebivolol for 5 weeks, and after a bit i noticed i was getting possible angina when walking after 5 or 10 minutes. Not pain like before cabg but still had to stop for rest. I noticed it maybe 3 weeks into Nebivolol, but didnt put 2 and 2 together. Now back on Bisoprolol for 2 weeks and still get suspected angina. Doctor is aware and wants to know if improves over next few weeks. But...i want to know if anyone else has experienced this? Either its down to Nebivolol or its a coincidence. Thanks.

Hello,
Beta blockers can make coronary vasospasms worse.
Coronary vasospasms, transient constrictions of the coronary arteries cause vasospastic angina.
When I was prescribed nebivolol before my diagnosis of vasospastic angina was confirmed, I ended up in hospital with unstable angina.
Thanks for reply but i dont have vasospasms, just mild angina.
You can have angina non obstructive coronary arteries ANOCA as well as obstructive coronary arteries.
Coronary vasospasms and microvascular dysfunction cause angina too.
I did the same switch about 4 years ago and had no problems
Bisoprolol made me feel the cold and I was always feeling cold
