I had pacemaker fitted 4 days ago after emergency admission for total heart block.
I’m at home but feeling my heart fluttering occasionally. Is this normal to feel something happening?

I had a pacemaker implant a year ago, also for complete heart block! I remember having sensation of heart flutter and palpitations at the beginning. It eventually settles down but even today sometimes I can still feel the pacing, for example at night! Everyone is different but if concerned, I would ring up the device clinic and describe the feeling.
yes you can feel flutters and jump at first , my pacemaker I used to feel them when the pacemaker was putting extra beats . After a few weeks you see the pacemaker department and they can tune your pacing to suit you better
Thanks Twosumsmum, that makes me feel much better. Not long to wait until I get first check up on 28th March so I’m sure they’ll listen to me &’possibly reset pacemaker 🤞.
I had my pacemaker fitted for heart block, and can well remember the feeling of fluttering for the first few weeks. I had become used to having a low heart rate and with the pacemaker, all of a sudden, it was back to normal and felt too fast. I soon got used to it and they tweaked my rate at my first PM check (reduced rate from 60bpm to 55).
With complete heart block, you may be getting some ectopic beats, which can be a bit frightening at times. Your pacemaker cannot deal with these, but I have been assured they are harmless. I am still getting them after five and a half years.
Hi Rockgran, It's quite normal to feel tired but after a while you will get your energy back. There are certain do's and dont's but they are vey basic for example to avoid pressure on the pacemaker site. With regard to flutter sensation, wait for few days. If it doesn't go away I suggest you contact the cardiology secretary and explain the situation. Regards.
