Consistent Use of abbreviations is bad

I have raised my concerns about continued use of aronym in this forum and I am raising my concern again. Recently one contributor mentioned about BNP and pro-BNP with regard to heart issue. The use of acronym is okay among politicians and the media but not so in this serious forum when one is dealing with health issues. I would like contributors in future that in addition to use of a acronym , they should explain what does it stand for. In absence of that ,would moderator explain what a acronym stands for? I would appreciate that.

morning,

If you look through the pinned post on the right hand side there’s a list of abbreviations and acronyms from the moderator's.

I agree. Thanks Pauline for pointing out the mods’ pinned post, though. This shows the common ones, indeed. But when there’s a whole string then it’s just to wearying to keep checking, if one doesn’t understand immediately.

I believe it is normal practice to at first put the full word or words, thereafter to abbreviate. This gives an immediate reference to the meaning and is a great help to anyone reading the posts on this forum.
