Anyone taken this ? I'm worried about side effects. Gout. Tendons snapping etc

anything you swallow will give you some kind of side effect, whether pleasant or unpleasant (a drink of water, a full English breakfast, a medication).

Your dispensing pharmacist or, even better, the pharmacist employed at your doctor’s group of surgeries, would have information on the side effects of this and the inter-reactions of any other medication you already take.

He said risk of gout but I've read about tendon rupture !

I take this in a combined pill with Ezetimibe to manage cholesterol as I can’t take statins. I have suffered no ill effects whatsoever. I am active - walk daily and attend body pump twice a week - and have suffered no tendon injury. As others have mentioned, it’s always best to discuss with a pharmacist if you are concerned about side effects of any drug. Hope this helps.

Took it for 6 months but stopped it due to anaemia (listed as a common side effect on the tablet insert). I did have a GI bleed two weeks after starting it but probably just a coincidence. The first few days after starting felt a bit nauseous, had a headache and also constipated but after four days no obvious side effects. I walk a lot and no problems while on the drug and would have stayed on it if not for the anaemia problems.

A very effective drug for lowering cholesterol levels. I also take Ezetimibe and have inclisiran injections, with the bempedoic acid added LDL dropped from 2.3 to 0.9 and overall cholesterol from 4.2 to 2.9. Since stopping it three months ago LDL back up to 1.6 so far and cholesterol 2.9 to 3.8.

my cardiologist prescribed this to replace statins after my blood tests sowed increased liver enzymes. Three months in and no problems. Just waiting for a blood test after 6 months to see if cholesterol levels remain low.

I take Bempedoic Acid and have had no side effects except feeling very hot soon after taking it but it soon wears off. I have had gout before and take medication for it but have had no problems at all and blood tests showed it all under control.

On a very positive note it has reduced my cholesterol to the lowest it has ever been. Very good news!
