AF / Mounjaro /ADHD

Hi all,

I experienced my first AF on Sunday evening. It lasted between 2/3 hours and HR was at 260. I went to A&E as I didn’t know what was going on. The Dr has prescribed me Bisoprolol and I am waiting to speak to a cardiologist,

I am currently on Mounjaro, I have been since September and have lost almost 2 stone. I was wondering if anyone else with AF is on it? I don’t know whether or not I should continue on taking it. I don’t think it caused my AF, it’s more than likely from being overweight and family history.

I also have ADHD and I’m currently on 60mg of methylphenidate per day but I am reluctant to take these now also.

It’s hard to know what to do until I’ve spoken to a consultant, I just want to know if there are others like me and can manage their AF alongside these medications.

Thank you!

If you are struggling with medication issues before you meet with your consultant you could have a word with a pharmacist, who may be more qualified to understand your medication and any interactions that result and might be able to suggest a plan of action for you.

Hi Therese, I am on Mounjaro, 6mths now ( lost 3st) and levothyroxine for underactive thyroid. Recently experienced an attack of tachycardia for the first time. My HR went to 190 but only for about 20 mins. My heart rate around this episode was completely normal and has been since - I know this because I wear an apple watch. I went to casualty, bloods , EEG done no cause found but my GP tested my thyroid and found that my T4 was high and my TSH just within range. So we are reducing my thyroid meds as she thinks that caused the tachycardia. If your liver is working better due to the effects of mounjaro/weight loss, it will be doing all sort of things better than it was before and this could impact other medications. Just mention it in case that is an issue for you.

Thank you for getting back to me! And congrats on the weight loss! I’m seeing a cardiologist tomorrow so I will mention all of this then! X
